22 Lessons Learnt There is a need to establish UK water quality standards for water reuse Public perception, there is a need to educate people about the issues associated with water reuse from the technologies available, the economic position the potential uses of for recycled and the safety implications and limitations Key risk is cross connection between potable and non potable water systems Plant performance/energy and chemical optimisation A holistic understanding of the true cost of water recycling is required Regulation/Legislation/Governance

23 Successes Developed Adoptable Standards for the NPW network Agreed bespoke Water Quality parameters Developed Water Safety Plan approach to gain approval from 3 key regulators - Environment Agency - Health Protection Agency - Drinking Water Inspectorate Constructed a WRP facility that was sympathetic to its surroundings Largest community wastewater recycling scheme in the UK

24 Old Ford Water Recycling Facility This technology is ahead of legislation and standards This project is likely to be used as a template for future reuse facilities
