2 Cumultive Development First Hlf DEVELOPMENT IN AS OF 30 JUNE This fctsheet exmines the sttus of lnd-bsed wind energy development in Germny, s well s the development of new construction for the first hlf of. During this time, totl of 650 wind turbine genertors (WTG) with totl cpcity of 1, MW were erected on lnd. This gross ddition includes t lest 93 repowering turbines with totl cpcity of MW. In ddition, it ws determined tht 102 WTGs with totl of MW hd been dismntled. 3 First Hlf REPOWERING AND DISMANTLING The mendment to the Renewble Energy Lw, which is coming into effect on 01 August, stipultes the estblishment of centrl WTG register. A corresponding provision is currently under development. Newly instlled WTGs will thence be recorded in centrl register. Should the repowering chrcteristic of WTG nd the dismntling of WTGs be noted therein, comprehensive sttistic concerning repowering cn evolve. Until then, the dt regrding repowering nd dismntling presented below remin non-binding nd contin ll informtion cptured by mens of complex dt collection with the knowledge tht the ctul repowering nd dismntling numbers re most likely bove those cptured. Repowering In the frmework of the sttisticl dt collection for the first hlf of, 93 of the 650 newly instlled WTGs hve been identified s repowered ones (mening tht for newly erected WTG n old WTG ws dismntled in the sme or djcent dministrtive district/county). With n identified cpcity of MW, this equtes to repowering shre of t lest 15.5 % of the gross new construction of the first hlf of. Tble 2 shows the nnul instlled cpcity in the frmework of repowering projects, s well s the repoweringshre of the nnul gross cpcity ddition in reltion to elpsed time Dismntling In prllel, t lest 102 WTGs with cpcity of MW were dismntled. The verge cpcity of dismntled WTGs ws bout 626 kw. This results in n verge repowering fctor of 4.2, mening tht the instlled cpcity ws more thn qudrupled in the frmework of repowering. The net development cn be derived using the nnul gross new construction nd dismntling numbers of WTGs, coming to 1, MW for the first hlf of. It should be ssumed, however, tht the underestimtion of dismntled WTGs, which is probbly the cse here, results in n overestimtion of the net new construction of wind energy. 4 1 st Hlf of First Hlf AVERAGE TURBINE CONFIGURATION This section dels with the verge lnd-bsed turbine configurtion. The results re shown in Tble 2. In the first hlf of, the verge WTG cpcity ws 2,650 kw cross Germny. The verge WTG hd rotor dimeter of 97 meters nd hub height of 113 meters. Regionl differences with regrd to verge WTG configurtion re discussed further in the next section (Regionl Distribution of Wind Energy Development). Compred to the verge vlue determined for ll of 2013, the verge turbine cpcity incresed by bout 2 % for the first hlf of. By 30 June, the verge cpcity per WTG within the entire portfolio cme to 1,463 kw. 5 First Hlf REGIONAL DISTRIBUTION OF WIND ENERGY DEVELOPMENT This section dels with the regionl distribution of wind energy development cross the individul Germn sttes during the first hlf of. The results re shown in Tble 3. Compred to ll other sttes, Schleswig-Holstein gin leds with bout 443 MW of new construction. Lower Sxony comes in second plce with 190 MW of new construction slightly hed of Brndenburg with 189 MW. New construction in these three sttes mkes up nerly hlf (47.7 %) of ll new construction within Germny. The northern Germn sttes re clerly the leders, since nother 174 MW were instlled in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerni. As mentioned, the most new construction in centrl Germny occurred in Brndenburg, s well s Sxony-Anhlt (122 MW). The southern sttes re heded up by Rhinelnd-Pltinte (161 MW), followed by Bvri with bout 141 MW. The smllest nd the lrgest verge turbine cpcity re ttributble to two individul turbines. Aside from these two turbines, the verge turbine cpcity cross ll Germn sttes lies between 2,160 kw nd 2,850 kw. The verge rotor dimeters lie between 89 nd 109 meters, verge rotor dimeters exceeding 100 meters were found to be in the southern Germn sttes. With the exception of Schleswig- Holstein (84 meters) nd Lower Sxony (99 meters), the verge hub height in ll Germn sttes ws t lest 105 meters nd up to 138 meters. It should be noted tht the cumultive vlues my devite from fct s the exct number of dismntled turbines is not known. With 7,819 MW of instlled cpcity, Lower Sxony is t the top of the list of cumultive wind energy development. Brndenburg comes in second with 5,233 MW nd Schleswig- Hostein is third with bout 4,331 MW of cumultive cpcity.
