48 Information L&T Sargent & Lundy INFORMATION SYSTEMS At L& &T Sargent & Lundy, Information Technology (IT) plays an important role in offering value added services to our customers. In L&T S& &L, IT infrastructure includes the latest technology for servers, workstations and communication facilities. Our in house IT team keeps track of the latest software and products in the market and provides timely custom made solution to the end users. COMMUNICATIONS The two design offices in Baroda and Faridabad are connected through high bandwidth leased lines to facilitate file transfer, video and audio conferencing facilities. , Intranet and Internet facilities are available to all users. CONCURRENT ENGINEERING L&T S&L is connected to the parent company Sargent & Lundy LLC, Chicago through International Private Leased Circuit (IPLC) to facilitate concurrent engineering between the two offices. Concurrent Engineering is a novel concept wherein all L&T S& &L design offices can work together in the same projects with Sargent & Lundy at the same time with the help of distributed servers and replication. This helps project teams to overcome the geographical barriers and difference in time zones, thereby enabling round the clock engineering. ENGINEERING SOFTWARE DEPLOYED PLADES, developed by Sargent & Lundy LLC, is an integrated project management, engineering and design automation system for all aspects of power plant design, analysis, optimization and 3D modeling. This system builds accuracy and completeness of information into the engineering deliverables and generates reports for project management, preliminary design, system engineering and physical design.
