Management Plan for the Beneficial Use of Organic Residuals Presented to: Bioenergy Business Meeting in Minneapolis, MN April 25, 2007 Presented by: Bruce Bailey, CPSS/Ag/ESC Vice President of Technical Affairs P.O. Box Riverview Road Cleveland, Ohio
Who we are Schmack BioEnergy is: An Ohio company with a highly successful European strategic partner. A Green Energy producer. A beneficial use specialist, well versed in EPA compliance issues. Positively impacting our environment and economy. PROVEN, REPEATABLE, EXPANDABLE, RELIABLE & SAFE.
Benefits Schmack BioEnergy will: Provide a proven modular technology with mechanical and process guarantees. In Germany you are paid for performance not for construction. Virtually eliminate odors closed loop system. Stabilize organic wastes by reducing volatile solids content. Provide an integrated service package with manure dewatering equipment, digestion services which include remote monitoring, and biogas cleaning and separation to pipeline quality. Fix future costs and eliminate unforeseen capital expenses. Reduce initial capital investment and on-going operating costs because of high solids input. Generate a net of 85 to 90 % Green Energy from the beneficial use of waste.
Schmack BioEnergy s Answer to Energy & Waste Challenges Anaerobic Digestion System ADS A natural biochemical process by which organic matter is decomposed by bacteria in the absence of oxygen, producing energy and other by products. Our systems process HIGH % solids, have integrated grit removal and biological sulfur removal, and have greater efficiencies.
Schmack BioEnergy s Plants Process = FLEXIBILITY Municipal Waste Water Sludges & FOG Institutional & Industrial Organic Wastes Farm Animal Wastes Agricultural Crops and Residuals Ethanol Plant Residuals Schmack BioEnergy s Plants Produce = FLEXIBILITY Renewable Green Energy & Carbon Credits Excess Natural Gas and/or Electricity Soil Amendments and other Value- Added Products

ADS Biogas Production Biogas normally consists of 55 to 65 percent methane. Methane gas is an odorless, colorless, flammable gas with the formula CH4 that is the primary constituent of natural gas. The remaining portion of the gas is made up of primarily carbon dioxide and with trace amounts of hydrogen sulfide and nitrogen gas. Our system integrates biological sulfur removal in the secondary digester. Carbon Dioxide 30% Hydrogen Sulfide, Ammonia & Water Vapor 5% Content: 55 to 65% methane. 30 to 40% carbon dioxide. Trace amounts of hydrogen sulfide, ammonia & water vapor. Heat Value: Methane 65% Biogas is usually 650 Btu per cubic foot compared to natural gas at 1,000 Btu per cubic foot.

Inside the Primary & Secondary Digesters EUCO - Primary Digester Primary fermentation step Plug-flow reactor Single reactor volumes from 400 to 1,000 m³ (100,000 to 264,000 gallons) No gas storage Loading Rate: 15 kg/m³ odm (0.94 lbs/ft 3 ) COCCUS - Secondary Digester Secondary fermentation step Fully-mixed reactor Single reactor volumes from 1,000 to 4,000 m³ (264,000 to 1,056,000 gallons) Gas storage included Loading Rate: 4 kg/m³ odm (0.25 lbs/ft 3 )
Distribution and Pumping Station Central pumping station of the biogas plant. All reaction and storage tanks (prim. and sec. digestor, reception pit, final holding tank) are connected via this distribution system.

Conclusion Schmack BioEnergy can design, build, own or operate an ADS facility that will economically generate renewable Green Energy from the beneficial use of residual organic wastes from the best available biogas technologies available in the market today. Our process is more efficient and requires less capital when compared to current options available today. Schmack Bio-Energy can manage your wastes in a proven, reliable and safe process that will provide meaningful economic and environmental benefits to you. Benefits include: EPA Compliance with a proven modular technology. Reducing volume and odor from a variety of wastes. Fixing future costs. Producing excess Green Energy & Carbon Credits. Turning wastes into products energy & soil amendments.
