2 4. FIRST AID MEASURES If poisoning occurs, immediately contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre (telephone ), and follow the advice given. Show this Material Safety Data Sheet to the doctor. Inhalation Skin contact Eye contact Ingestion First Aid Facilities Medical attention If inhaled remove to fresh air and keep at rest. Obtain medical advice if at all worried. Carefully remove contaminated clothing and footwear. Wash affected areas with soap and water. Seek medical aid if at all worried. Rinse eyes immediately with clean water for at least 15 minutes and obtain medical aid. Wash out mouth with water. Do NOT induce vomiting. Keep patient at rest and seek medical advice as above. Ensure washing facilities are available. Local contamination: Treatment should be symptomatic after decontamination. In case if skin or eye contamination, treat as above under First Aid Measures. 5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES Systemic poisoning: Initial treatment should be symptomatic and supportive. Anticonvulsant therapy is not appropriate. There is no specific antidote. Medical supervision should be continued for a minimum of 48 hours. This product is not flammable, but will burn under fire conditions. It is considered nonexplosive for dust explosion classification. Fire fighters should wear full protective gear, including self-contained breathing apparatus (AS/NZS 1715/1716). Keep unnecessary people away. If it can be done safely, remove intact containers from the fire. Bund area with sand or earth to prevent contamination of drains or waterways. Dispose of extinguishing agent and spillage safely later. 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES Avoid contact with spilled material or contaminated surfaces. Do not smoke, eat or drink during the clean up process. Wear personal protective clothing and equipment as detailed in Section 8 PERSONAL PROTECTION. Keep people and animals away. Contain spillage. Avoid creating dust by damping down. Prevent spilled material from entering drains or watercourses. Shovel or sweep up, and transfer into plastic drums. Seal and label ready for safe disposal. 3 7. HANDLING AND STORAGE Handling Storage Flammability Keep out of reach of children. Will irritate the eyes. Avoid contact with eyes. Avoid inhalation of dust. If product in eyes, wash it out immediately with water. After use and before eating, drinking or smoking, wash hands, arms and face thoroughly with soap and water. After each day s use wash gloves, goggles and contaminated clothing. Store in the closed, original container in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area. Do not store for prolonged periods in direct sunlight. This product is not flammable. It is considered non-explosive for dust explosion classification. 8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION Exposure standards The occupational exposure limit for iprodione set by Bayer CropScience is 2 mg/m³. The National Occupational Health and Safety Commission exposure standard (TWA) for calcium carbonate is 10 mg/m³. Exposure standard Time Weighted Average (TWA) means the average airborne concentration of a particular substance when calculated over a normal eight-hour working day, for a five-day working week. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION - continued ANIMAL TOXICITY DATA PRODUCT (continued) Chronic: Lifetime feeding studies in rodents have shown an increased incidence of tumours in animals treated at the maximum tolerated dose. Iprodione has been classified as a Category 3 carcinogen according to the EU classification. The No Observable Effect Level listed by the Therapeutic Goods Administration for iprodione is 4 mg/kg bw/day. Iprodione was not mutagenic in the Ames assay. 12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION This product is toxic to aquatic organisms, and may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment. It has a low hazard to birds, earthworms, bees and other beneficial insects. DO NOT contaminate streams, rivers or waterways with Rovral 750 WG or the used containers. 6 13. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS Plastic/foil bag (in a carton) Single rinse before disposal. Add rinsings to spray tank. Do not dispose of undiluted chemicals on site. Puncture and bury empty containers in a local authority landfill. If no landfill is available, bury the containers below 500 mm in a disposal pit specifically marked and set up for this purpose clear of waterways, desirable vegetation and tree roots.
