2 INTRODUCTION A LITTLE ABOUT TARIFFS The Feed-In Tariffs will pay owners of renewable electricity installations a guaranteed tariff for every kilowatt-hour of electricity their installation generates. Solar photovoltaics (PV) produce renewable electricity, offering a truly viable clean energy option; they are the optimum choice for F-i-T investment and have the longest tariff duration of 20 years. Any property is eligible, although different sized PV systems receive different payments per kilowatt hour. FOR MORE ON HOW THE TARIFFS WORK PLEASE CONTACT US. PAYMENT STRUCTURE 1. Feed in tariff (base rate) how much electricity is produced by your solar PV x base tariff (p/kwh) (it doesn t matter how much you use!) 2. Feed in tariff (export rate) >30kW system meter recorded how much electricity produced by your solar PV but not used x export tariff (p/kwh) 3. Energy bill savings electricity not required to be purchased because you have used the electricity your PV panels have produced Get paid for the electricity you generate, both that you use in your property and that which is sold back to the grid. Save money by reducing the amount of electricity you purchase from your energy supplier. Payments are made for 20 years, RPI linked and income tax free*. *Income tax free for domestic installations only 2
3 EXAMPLES WHAT YOU GET PAID BY THE GRID EXAMPLE 1-30kW System Fully Installed 42,000 exc VAT Example: 30kW System Fully installed: 42,000 exc vat Roof space required: Approx 200m2 Installation duration: Average 5 days Approx 7 years 2 months payback / 12 years 10 months profit Annual Base Rate Average kwh / annum Annual Export Rate Energy exported back to the grid Annual Energy Bill Saving Average purchase price 14.4p per unit Annual Payback Payback plus savings Total over 20 years 116,776.6 Average yearly ROI approx 13.9% EXAMPLE 2-50kW System Fully Installed 54,000 exc VAT Example: 50kW System Fully installed: 54,000 exc vat Roof space required: Approx 400m2 Installation duration: Average 7-10 days Approx 5 years 6 months payback / 14 years 6 months profit Annual Base Rate Average 45,699 kwh / annum Annual Export Rate (50%) Annual Energy Bill Saving (50%) Energy exported back to the grid Average purchase price 14.4p per unit Annual Payback Payback plus savings Total over 20 years 194, Average yearly ROI approx 18.02% 3
4 IMPORTANT WHAT YOU GET PAID BY THE GRID IMPORTANT NOTES All examples assume that the system is connected to a property for use of the power 50% used, 50% exported Estimated system costs may vary over time (these examples are based on 2013 figures exc VAT) and are dependent on the specific installation design All the above payback figures are estimates based on the Feed in Tariff rate as can best be estimated Solar Irradiance levels based on Kent, UK location, south facing at 40 o tilt, using PVGIS database ( ec.europa.eu/pvgis/) REFERENCE FEED-IN TARIFFS System Type System Size Tariff per Kwh New build / Retro-fit 10-50kw New build / Retro-fit kw New build / Retro-fit kw 9.89 Export Tariff p Rates received until 31st March 2015 REMEMBER FIT PAYMENTS AND ELECTRICITY SAVINGS WILL INCREASE OVER 20 YEARS DUE TO INFLATION. 4
5 HOW TO PROCEED? YOU ARE INTERESTED IN SOLAR PV CONTACT US Our expert advisors are on hand to perform site surveys free of charge and with no obligation to purchase, if you feel this investment opportunity is worth finding out more about, let us provide you with our full solar potential report, which will provide a realistic estimate of how much you can benefit from investment. Our prices are very competitive, which allows you the investor, to benefit at the best possible rates of return. Telephone: info@totalelec.co.uk Website: 5
