Determining The Ttal Square eet f Heating Surface Step 1 Determine The llwing Variables: Steam Supply Pressure: Recvery Rating: Incming Cld Water: Desired Ht Water: Steam Cnsumptin: Lbs./Hr. Step 2 Determine if the strage tank is t include a builtin Intra-Tank circulatr, r if it is t rely n natural cnvectin fr circulatin within the tank. Nte: If the Recvery Rating is greater than three times the strage capacity f the vessel, then the heating cil may be wrapped and baffled t allw fr an integral pump t frce circulate water ver the heating cil. The pump must be sized fr the maximum GPM recvery rating. Step 3 Use Chart #1 t determine the cnversin factr f heated per square ft f heating cil at the given steam supply pressure, temperature rise, and methd f tank circulatin. Selecting The Steam Cil Step 5 Determine the length f the heating cil. Nte: A cil in a vertical tank shuld be as clse as pssible t but nt exceed the diameter f the vessel. A cil in a hrizntal tank is typically apprximately 2 3 the length f the vessel " Apprximate Cil Length desired Step 6 rm Chart #2 (see fllwing page) starting with the smallest diameter cil, cntinue dwn the Cil Ttal Sq. t. clumn until the desired Sq. t. as determined in Step 4 is within the range. Then multiply the desired Sq. t. f heating surface by the length multiplier. This will yield the ttal length f the cil. If the resulting length is lnger than the required length as determined in Step 5, then cntinue t the next cil range until a suitable length can be selected. Step 7 rmulate the cil mdel number by using the mdel number cnfiguratr n page 8. Step 4 Slve fr the required square ftage f heating surface by dividing the ttal recvery by the cnversin factr slved fr in Chart #1 n the fllwing page.
