11 Unique initiatives to create job opportunities 21 Solar Student Light Scholarship Project Partners Bharatiya Vikas Trust, Tata BP Solar, Gramin Banks Support 200 poor students in providing/ enhancing access to solar lighting by providing this scholarship of Rs 1,000 each Area covered : U.P/ Gurgaon and Karnataka in the pilot project Main objective to make available reliable solar energy to un-electrified houses of SSLC students, to enable them to study better for their crucial examination besides reaching the solar energy to rural house-holds. Impact of the innovation: Non-availability of grid power and best alternative power resource to build a strong base of education / carrier of poor students class and there by enhancing the quality of life of the family. No Health hazards, clean & tension free lighting It addresses the constraints of rural poor individuals in obtaining institutional finance due to their inability to arrange for margin money (15%) required for obtaining loans. It addresses the problem of dropouts, child labour and migration to urban areas The project also demonstrate a new marketing strategy, approach and medium/ facilitators and a huge customer segment for solar sector, untapped and unexplored

12 Striking the right cords A unique and not-for-profit initiative of Tata BP Solar Arunodaya was created with a vision to aid the widespread deployment of solar energy all over the country. Goal is to create awareness about Energy and Environment Scenario Relevance of Renewable Energy Sources Different forms of Renewable Energy Sources Solar Thermal and Solar Electricity Generation Applications of Solar Energy and Benefits Economics Energy Conservation The program is designed based on several interactions with professionals, users, designers, government, etc. Target audience - Energy and Facility Managers, Financing Institutions, Energy Study Centers in Engineering and Science Colleges, Polytechnics and Schools, Builders and Architects, NGOs, Administrators, Environmentalists among others. >275 programs covering 20,000 people conducted since 2006 who in turn can reach and influence 1,80,000 people 23 Tie up for Training Partners : NTTF & Tata BP Solar Hands-on training for dealer technicians on solar product installation and servicing 55 programs held in Bangalore. Plans exist to replicate in other states with NTTF presence. The most recent program was conducted for a group of women from Afghanistan
