8 JICA s OPERATION : DRRM Japan/ JICA has the advantage in sharing insights on DRRM. Through structural and non structural measures, we contribute to achieve safe and Resilient Philippines. 9 JICA s OPERATION : PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT IN MINDANAO In 2006, Japan/ JICA provided support to peace and development in Conflict Affected Areas in Mindanao under the Japan-Bangsamoro Initiatives for Reconstruction and Development (J-BIRD) Japan s Approach 1. Capacity Development Implementing human resource development related activities for ARMM Regional Government and the Bangsamoro Transition Commission. 2. Enhancement of industry clustering/ Improvement of the Connectivity Developing the value chain through industry clustering approach to improve investment climate and develop local industries. Improving market linkage through road improvement. 3. Development Plan for Bangsamoro Supported the formulation of the Transitional Development Plan for and a Medium- Long- Term Development Plan for Indirect Support Dispatch of socio-economic advisors to International Monitoring Team (IMT). Participation in the International Contact Group on Mindanao Networking and Confidence building with all the stake holders.
