Wastewater Treatment Knowledge. Commitment. Excellence.
Wastewater Treatment KC s wastewater treatment group has designed, constructed, and helped to operate over 70 facilities. We work with government, industrial, and private clients to meet a full range of wastewater related needs. We approach each project with innovative and creative expertise to deliver comprehensive engineering services that solve the most intricate wastewater challenges from concept through design, construction, and operation. In addition, KC has designed, supervised the construction of, and/or evaluated more than 30 industrial wastewater treatment systems. These include rendering plants, dairy wastes, poultry and egg processing, commercial laundry, metal plating, chemical, winery, and food processing systems. Our wastewater services help increase capacity and improve the performance of existing treatment facilities. KC strives to meet strict water discharge policies, conserve energy, and reduce environmental impacts. We serve municipal wastewater facilities, hospitals, hotels, nursing homes, residential developments, and schools. 01 TMSC Surface Aeration System Replacement, Poughkeepsie, NY Services Activated Sludge Plants Collection Systems and Pump Stations Community Liaising Conceptual Design Construction Services Detailed Design Environmental Analyses Infiltration/Inflow Reduction Master Planning Membrane Bioractor Plants O&M Manual Drafting Odor Control Plant Operation and Training SCADA / Computer Observation and Control Septage Receiving Stations
Wastewater Treatment KC s wastewater treatment group consists of skilled wastewater, water, civil, mechanical, and environmental engineers as well as proficient plant operators and designers with experience in all aspects of wastewater collection, supply, and treatment, including wastewater treatment plants, sewers, and pump stations. Representative Projects Hidden Valley Wastewater Treatment Plant in Mount Hope, NY KC designed this plant for an average design treatment capacity of 60,000 GPD, expandable to 90,000 GPD with the addition of more membrane units in existing tanks. Key project components included: headworks modification, conversion of an extended aeration tank into an equalization tank, raw sewage pumps from the equalization tank into the fine screen, fine screen to remove 0.25 inch debris and larger, anoxic treatment tank with mixer, two membrane biofilter tanks with enviroquip membrane, bioreactors, chlorine disinfection, associated pumps, blowers, compressors, controls, standby generator, and demolition of the old treatment plant tanks and fittings. KLSD Pump Stations and Force Mains in Bethel, NY As part of this project, KC provided the Kauneonga Lake Sewer District (KLSD) with consulting services for design, NYSDEC permitting, engineer s reports, preparation of contract documents, construction inspections, and support services during startup. Key project components included: Route 17B 8 HDPE sanitary sewer force main, 150 Central Avenue 8 sanitary sewer force main, 525 Route 17B pump station, 2 wet wells, 3 Smith and Loveless vacuum prime sewage pumps, flow meter, central Avenue 17B pump station, new concrete block pump station, all related structural, architectural, electrical, instrumentation, and plumbing work, 70 KW standby generator with propane storage tank, and miscellaneous erosion, sediment control, and other site work. 02
Representative Projects ShopRite Center Wastewater Treatment Facility in Warwick, NY The Warwick ShopRite Center Wastewater Treatment Facility serves the ShopRite supermarket, a drug store, and a small strip mall containing several stores. While the occupancy of the strip mall may vary over the life of the plant, the current occupants include a physicial rehabilitation facility, a liquor store, a bagel shop, and an Italian restaurant. Wastewater Treatment The treatment facility is an extended aeration plant with a design capacity of 12,000 GPD. The effluent is discharged into an intermittent stream that is an unnamed tributary to the Wawayanda Creek. The plant has run very satisfactorily for several years and meets all parameters for the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. Wastewater System Master Plan in Wallkill, NY 03 KC was tasked with preparing a wastewater system master plan for the Town of Wallkill with a specific focus on capital improvements and assessing the financial condition of the system as a whole. The Town of Wallkill wastewater collection and treatment system consists of a 4.0 MGD wastewater treatment plant, 10 sanitary sewer lift stations, 4 trunk sewer lines, and more than 70 miles of sanitary sewer collection piping that has been constructed over the life of the system. On average, the wastewater system collects and treats in excess of 1,000,000,000 gallons of wastewater every year. KC s engineers worked closely with the Town s sewer department staff and treatment plant operators to ensure that the product delivered was financially sound and practical for the operators.
Wastewater Treatment Representative Projects Yeshiva Kehilath Yakov (YKY) Wastewater Treatment Plant in Yorktown, NY The existing YKY wastewater treatment plant consisted of septic tanks, a dosing tank and pumps, subsurface sand filters, chlorination, and discharge into Dream Lake. Dream Lake is in the Croton River watershed. The upgraded wastewater treatment plant includes: coagulant injection and mixing, clarification, sand filtration, microfiltration, and UV disinfection. The plant also has a standby generator, SCADA control system, three pump stations, and sludge storage. KLSD Wastewater Treatment Plant in Bethel, NY This plant consists of headworks, two 600,000 gallon aeration basins, a blower building, two secondary settling basins, RAS pumps, two digesters, four Parkson up flow sand filters, UV disinfection, and sludge drying beds as well as office, lab, chemical, and equipment stroage in one single building.
