1 Retscreen method used to estimate overall heating needs and costs. This method was used based on resent past data collections as well as current known data and was prepared on 12/10/09 for the City of Kendrick Idaho. Refer to attached pages : Heating Project section The attached page 1 data is area specific data provided by the program. The attached page 2 data is entered as followed The following model represents two simultaneous scenarios, a base case and a proposed case. The base case uses no solar and heats entirely with propane gas. The proposed case uses solely solar energy June-Aug. In both cases (specifically the proposed case), propane is used for initial heat-up (mid to late May). Both Cover Usage (16 hrs/day). Both 78 degrees is the desired temperature. Both Makeup water is estimated at %5 /week (assumes no leaks). Both Set wind to 5% due to Pool location. Both Set shading 42% (see Retscreen shading model data) for base case and 39% for proposed (39% yields an estimated 0 fuel cost June-Aug). Pool usage 100% June-Aug. Both Supply water temperature records indicate approx. 52 degrees (min) June 15th. Both Software model estimating supply temperature (max) should be around 60.3 degrees late Aug. Both Software model indicates best solar energy collection with panels at 12 degree slope. iheat panels calculated and estimated to match Fafco Sunsaver ST panels at total approximate cost $980.

2 iheat spiral panel square area approx. 28 ft^2. iheat estimated efficiency coefficients. 14 iheat solar spiral panels. Overall area required 392 ft^2 Software model estimates 25.4 kw capacity. Software model estimates miscellaneous loses. Software model estimates power needed for pump. Cost for electricity at $.10/kWh. Fuel required for base case and proposed case (June-Aug) Financial Analysis section Proposed case. Initial cost of panels $980 Propane furnace $2500 Fuel cost proposed case (electricity for pump) $72 Initial heat-up (mid-late May) cost. 314 gal of $2/gal = $630 (314 gal * BTU/gal = 28,000,000BTU) Annual total $702 Base case. $549 (Jun-Aug) propane, Initial heat-up (mid-late May) cost. 314 gal of propane.@ $2/gal = $630 (314 gal * BTU/gal = 28,000,000BTU) Annual total $1179 Graph shows system pay for itself in 6.5 years
