2 Appendix G: Modeling Requirements Lighting - Proposed Design Lighting System Power - Proposed Design In the proposed design, the lighting system power shall be determined as follows: 1. Where a complete lighting system exists, the actual lighting power for each thermal block shall be used in the model. Based on system audit or documentation 2. Where a lighting system has been designed, lighting power shall be determined in accordance with Sections and Must include all lighting and be counted using wattage rules 3. Where lighting neither exists nor is specified, lighting power shall be determined in accordance with the Building Area Method for the appropriate building type. 2 Exceeding Standard ASHRAE Learning Institute

3 Appendix G: Modeling Requirements Lighting - Proposed Design Lighting System Power - Proposed Design Lighting system power shall include: All lighting system components shown or provided for on the plans. This includes lamps and ballasts and task and furniture- mounted fixtures). Exception: For multifamily dwelling units, hotel/motel guest rooms, and other spaces in which lighting systems are connected via receptacles and are not shown or provided for on building plans, assume identical lighting power for the proposed and baseline building designs in the simulations. (note hotel/motel guest room lighting part of compliance) Lighting power for parking garages and building facades shall be modeled. Considered part of building load and therefore modeled. 4 Appendix G: Modeling Requirements Lighting - Proposed Design Daylighting - Proposed Design Credit may be taken for the use of automatic controls for daylight utilization but only if their operation is: Modeled directly in the building simulation (Some tools have this capability) or Modeled in the building simulation through schedule adjustments determined by a separate daylighting analysis approved by the rating authority. 4 Exceeding Standard ASHRAE Learning Institute

5 Appendix G: Modeling Requirements Lighting - Proposed Design Lighting Controls - Proposed Design For automatic lighting controls in addition to those required for minimum code compliance under Section 9.4.1, credit may be taken for automatically controlled systems by reducing the connected lighting power by the applicable percentages listed in Table G3.2. Alternatively, credit may be taken for these devices by modifying the lighting schedules used for the proposed design, provided that credible technical documentation for the modifications are provided to the rating authority. 5 Exceeding Standard ASHRAE Learning Institute

7 Appendix G: Modeling Requirements Lighting - Baseline Building Baseline Building Lighting power in the baseline building design shall be determined using the same categorization procedure (building area or space function) and categories as the proposed design. (whole bldg or space-by-space) The lighting power shall be set equal to the maximum allowed for the corresponding method and category in Section 9.2. No automatic lighting controls (e.g., programmable controls or automatic controls for daylight utilization) shall be modeled in the baseline building design The lighting schedules used are understood to reflect the mandatory control requirements in this standard. 7 Exceeding Standard ASHRAE Learning Institute

9 SCOPE of REQUIREMENTS Requirements apply to: ( 9.1.1) Interior spaces of buildings Exterior building features Exterior building grounds lighting provided through the building s electrical service Requirements apply to: New construction Alterations to existing buildings ( 9.1.2) For existing buildings, the lighting requirements are triggered only when 50% or more of the existing luminaires in a space are replaced ( 9.1.2) Reference: ( 9.1.1) User Manual pg Exceeding Standard ASHRAE Learning Institute

10 LIGHTING POWER TRADE-OFFS Separate requirements exist for exterior and interior lighting systems. Each system must comply separately with their respective requirements. Trade-offs between the two are not allowed. Trade-offs are only permitted with interior lighting power and within some parts of exterior building lighting power. 10 Exceeding Standard ASHRAE Learning Institute

12 MULTIPLE SYSTEMS (Exception to 9.1.3) If controls are provided so that it is not possible to turn on both lighting systems at the same time, then it is only necessary to look at the lighting system with the greatest power when determining compliance with the Standard. 12 Exceeding Standard ASHRAE Learning Institute

15 9.4 MANDATORY The lighting mandatory requirements apply with any of the approaches to compliance, including the Energy Cost Budget method: ECB ( 11). 15 Exceeding Standard ASHRAE Learning Institute

16 AUTOMATIC LIGHTING SHUTOFF Buildings larger than 5000 ft² (465 m²) must have an automatic control device that is capable of turning off lighting in all spaces without occupant intervention. 17 TIME-SCHEDULING DEVICES If time scheduling is used to provide automatic shutoff, the control must be able to accommodate separate schedules for each floor of the building or for each space larger than 25,000 ft² (2323 m²). 21 EXTERIOR BUILDING LIGHTING POWER EXEMPT APPLICATIONS Lighting used for the following exterior applications is exempt when equipped with a control device independent of the control of the non-exempt lighting: 1. Specialized signal, directional & marker lighting for transportation; 2. Advertising signage or directional signage. 3. Integral to equipment or instrumentation & is installed by its manufacturer; 4. Theatrical purposes, including performance, stage, film production & video production; 5. Athletic playing areas; 6. Temporary lighting; 7. Industrial production, material handling, transportation sites and associated storage areas; 8. Theme elements in theme/amusement parks; and 9.
