3 Introduction Localized corrosion identified in main deck of GIRASSOL FPSO exceeding acceptance criteria and requiring repair. Analysis made of repair options showed that Bonded reinforcement Pad is the best alternative, to avoid hot works and reduce impact in production.

6 Problem Context Localized corrosion on main deck due to coating failure / damage. Some corrosion spots are beyond the acceptance criteria set by per the International Association Classification Societies (IACS). Corrosion spots are either top of cofferdam, crude oil or water ballast tanks. Class recommendation issued to repair the critical corroded spots. Need to minimize production and safety impact of such repair.

7 Options for Repair 3 options for the repair: 1. Weld Build up localized spots 2. Insert plate possible for repair of larger areas 3. Bonded reinforcement Pads (ColdShield)

8 Assessment of repair methods 1. Weld Build up Limited applicability if damage is moderate as per IACS rules. 2. Insert plate Hot works in hydrocarbon tanks Painting repairs inside tanks Safety Application in open sea condition 3. Bonded reinforcement Pads No major constraints and disruption in terms of HSE and production.

13 Conclusions Due to the severity of the localized corrosion main deck needs to be repaired. ColdShield has been jointly developed and validated by TOTAL R&D department & COLD PAD and approved by both BV and ABS as permanent repair methodology. Implementation of ColdShield system on top of Hydrocarbon tanks minimize the hot works and operation disruptions. Intended for permanent installation with an anticipated service life of >10 years A specific life cycle inspection test plan will be implemented (New technology)
