5 Lessons learned from the roadmap and background documents we need to act quickly. The current investment cycle must be the one which transforms Europe s energy system. EU policies take us in the right direction, but our system is changing too slowly. We need to intensify our efforts beyond 2020 with a new policy framework, including milestones for Costs and disruption will be much less if Europe acts together, in solidarity, in a common energy market.. 5

36 The message of this presentation in a nutshell Heat pumps work Heat pumps fulfill nearly all requirements for a truly sustabinable energy source for heating and cooling Heat pumps are recognized in most EU legislation Europe has set ambitious climate and energy targets for 2030 EU markets have been steadily developping (but are growing much slower than necessary) HP technology can be a corner stone of Europe s energy supply, yet there are still challenges 36
37 So what needs to be done to be done to free the way for heat pumps? Copyright: Max Ronnersjö Wikimedia 37

42 The European Heat Pump Association EEIG EHPA is a Brussels based industry association which aims at promoting awareness and proper deployment of heat pump technology in the European market place for residential, commercial and industrial applications. EHPA provides technical and economic input to European, national and local authorities in legislative, regulatory and energy efficiency matters. All activities are aimed at overcoming market barriers and dissemination of information in order to speed up market development of heat pumps for heating, cooling and hot water production. EHPA coordinates a quality initiative including a Quality label for heat pumps and Certification standards for heat pump installers. The association compiles the annual heat pump statistics and organizes a number of events, among them an annual heat pump conference. Contact: Thomas Nowak phone: mail: thomas.nowak@ehpa.org 42
