1 Carbon Neutral Platforms

2 Carbon friendly to carbon neutral. This is the Supply Change. The opportunity: Doing the right thing for the environment often runs counter to doing the right thing for your business. But not always. What we do: We ll provide you with a comprehensive, easy-to-implement path to carbon neutrality for your entire pallet operation. Making the most sustainable platforms on earth even more environmentally friendly. There are actions you can take that benefit the environment, enhance business operations, build your reputation and are financially feasible. Using sustainable platforms is a great first step. Trading partner collaboration can also reduce your environmental impact. And for companies willing to go the extra mile, carbon offsetting lowers your footprint even further. Carbon Neutral is about giving back to the environment what has been taken. Carbon offset mitigates the CO 2 emissions you generate from operations like pallet management by funding offset projects that capture greenhouse gases. Carbon offsetting allows you to expand your environmental commitment beyond your supply chain to other areas of the world where help is needed. Places where needed projects wouldn t otherwise be supported. Carbon offsetting does more than just reinforce your sustainability credibility; it helps you to make a deep and lasting impact on people s lives. Using our knowledge and data on your supply chain, we use sustainability tools based on ISO compliant Life Cycle Analysis to calculate your carbon footprint. Then we ll offer you a wide range of offset projects in different regions of the world that deliver both environmental and social impact. The CHEP Carbon Neutral Platforms program maximises the use of the most sustainable platforms and decreases your environmental impact even further. And we ll make an extra effort to develop joint communications (internal and external) that promote your corporate social responsibility achievements. Last year, carbon neutral pallets offset 10,069 tonnes of customer CO 2 emissions 5. Carbon Neutral Platforms Funded projects mitigate the carbon footprint of your shared platform use. Your pallet operation from start to finish releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere through the use of transport and handling equipment. Carbon Neutral Carbon dioxide is naturally absorbed by plants and the ocean through the carbon cycle. Only CHEP: We are the only company provider to offer a Carbon Neutral Platform Program that is not driven by profit, but rather to help benefit the planet and drive our corporate social responsibility effort. No one in the market provides more sustainable platforms, solutions and measured results for your supply chain. 4. Offsetting projects You can choose from a wide range of offset projects that are aligned with your CSR strategy. 3. Carbon Offset A carbon offset balances the amount of carbon emissions released by supporting activities that reduce carbon emissions.

3 These projects would not be possible without the support of carbon offset programs. Guatemala Water infrastructure & energy efficiency Developing a commercially viable supply chain for clean energy and clean water products that reach communities in need. Colombia Protecting 13,465 hectares of tropical rainforest by stopping the spread of ranching in the Chocó-Darién Conservation Corridor. Chile Protecting the 50,251-hectare Valdivian Coastal Reserve by stopping threats from non-native eucalyptus plantations and construction. Uganda Reforestation Planting more than 4.7 million trees through an incentive program that provides farmers with a sustainable income. Mongolia Establishing a supply chain for stove and insulation products, supporting local production, creating jobs and reducing air pollution and fuel costs. China Improving the hygiene and living conditions of 100,000 rural households along the Danjiang River by supplying clean solar cookers. Sub-Sarahan Africa Water infrastructure Providing access to safe drinking water, improving health and wellbeing and offering training to repair, restore and maintain communityowned boreholes. Malawi Working directly with more than 45,000 households to reduce fuel wood use, develop sustainable livelihoods and promote biodiversity. Brazil Protecting 35,000 hectares of rainforest from deforestation, by helping develop alternatives to clear cutting and educates residents on conservation and water stewardship. Malawi/Uganda Water infrastructure Repairing and restoring deteriorated boreholes and deploying technologies that can be maintained by local mechanics trained by project developers. Kenya Reforestation A community-focused project that empowers women, enhances reforestation, improves soil and vegetation quality and reduces erosion and water runoff. Madagascar Playing an essential role in biodiversity protection by limiting deforestation in 360,000 hectares of the Makira forest through working with local communities. Indonesia Limiting deforestation from palm oil concessions and unsustainable land use through the preservation of 47,000 hectares of carbondense tropical peat swamp forest. India Manufacturing and distributing energy efficient cook stoves to households, aiding in an 80% reduction of indoor air pollution and related health issues. Vietnam Clean energy Improving manure management on farms through the implementation of micro anaerobic digesters results in a savings of US $120 per household per year on cooking fuel. Cambodia Protecting 13 discrete parcels of tropical forest scattered across the Oddar Meanchey Province of Cambodia, representing nearly 10% of the province.
