She received her Bachelor s degree in Chemical Engineering from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Master s in Advanced Process Engineering from Loughborough University and PhD from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. She specialises in process planning/scheduling, modeling, simulation and optimization. Her research activities are focused on low carbon society (LCS), climate change mitigation strategy, renewable electricity generation and Renewable Energy distributed electricity generation (DEG) system. She has won numerous international and local awards such as INATEX, MTE and Seoul International Invention Fair (SIIF) and research grants. Dr. Zarina is a Certified Energy Manager awarded by Asean Energy Management Schems (AEMAS). She is a registered engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and Graduate Member of Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE).
