Site Analysis (i) Connectivity: The project is located in Sinnar Taluka Industrial CO-OP Estate (STICE) at Musalgaon which is easily accessible by State Highway 39 (SH 39) viz. Nashik - Shirdi Higway Page 14

15 which is connected to National Highway (NH 50), the access to the project site is achievable by internal roads developed by STICE which is connected to SH 39. Nearest Railway Station: Devlali Railway Station is approximately km (aerial distance) from the project site. Nearest Airport: Ozar Airport, approximately at an aerial distance of km from the project site. Location and Access The industrial estate is centrally located and easily accessible through all modes of transport. Road: The entire industrial estate is well connected by internal roads. Available Road Network: The internal STICE road plies adjoining to the project plot. (ii) Land Form, Land use and Land Ownership: The Project location & the surrounding environs being located in the industrial estate prevail industrial type of land use form and the project plots in consideration are in possession of the project proponent. (iii) Topography: Since the topographic characteristics govern a greater land mass, the topography of entire district has been taken into account as described under. Nashik District is one part of the Deccan Plateau. The district boundaries are marked by Palghar, Thane, Ahmadnagar, Aurangabad, Jalgaon, Dhule districts & Gujarat State. Nashik district is divided into four agro climatic zone s namely Ghat zone, Transitional zone 1, Transitional zone 2 and Scarcity zone. The Western Ghats or Sahyadri range stretches from north to south across the western portion of the district. With the exception of the westernmost few villages, the western portion is hilly, and intersected by ravines, and only the simplest kind of cultivation is possible. The western slope of the Ghats is drained by several rivers, including the Daman Ganga River, which drains westwards to the Arabian Sea. The larger eastern portion of the district, which lies on the Deccan Plateau, is open, fertile, and well cultivated. The Satmala-Chandwad Range, which runs east and west, forms the chief divide of the plateau region. Peninsular India's largest river Godavari originates in the district in Page 15

16 the Trimbakeshwar Range and continues its soujourn eastwards through the district. The Satmala- Chandwad Range forms a watershed, such that, the rivers emerging to its south drain into the Godavari. These include the Kadva and Darna both of which are tributaries of the Godavari. To the north of the Satmala-Chandwad Range, the Girna River and its tributary, the Mosam, flow eastward through fertile valleys into the Tapti River. The entire Nashik district is underlain by the basaltic lava flows. These flows are normally horizontally disposed over a wide stretch and give rise to table land type of topography also known a plateau. These flows occur in layered sequences and represented by massive unit at the bottom and vesicular unit at the top of the flow.the shallow alluvial formation of recent age also occurs as narrow stretch along the banks of Godavari Rivers. The soils are the weathering products of Basalt and have various shades from gray to black, red and pink colour. The prominent soils occurring in the district are black soil 65%, red soil 13%, loamy soil 18%, varak soil 4%. Black soil is dominant in the area occurring particularly in Goavari river valley. Almost all soils are alkaline in nature. Nashik District is a noted for the mountains and hills occupying the north and north-east of its territory. These hill ranges are eastward spurs of the Western Ghats and form prominent landmarks in the district, some noted for the shrines they harbor while others for the trekking adventures which can be undertaken while ascending the peaks. Broadly categorized, the hills can be segregated into 3 noteworthy ranges: Selbari Range which may be inclusive of the Dholbari range, alternately called Selbari- Dholbari range. Satmala Range also called the Satmala-Ajanta range. Trimbakeshwar Range constituting the Trimbak-Anjaneri hills. (vii) Climatic data Nashik's climate is classified as tropical. The summers are much rainier than the winters in Nashik. According to Köppen and Geiger, this climate is classified as Aw. In Nashik, the average annual temperature is 24.7 C. About 812 mm of precipitation falls annually. Precipitation is the lowest in February, with an average of 0 mm. The greatest amount of precipitation occurs in July, with an average of 248 mm. At an average temperature of 29.5 C, May is the hottest month of the year. The lowest average temperatures in the year occur in January, when it is around 20.4 C. Between the driest and wettest months, the difference in precipitation is 248 mm. The variation in temperatures throughout the year is 9.1 C.
