Required SRI HEAT ISLAND EFFECT of >.78 or Vegetative coverage of > 50% or a combination of SRI and Vegetation. To calculate the SRI click here Columbia Skylights potential contribution Columbia Skylights use state of the art LoE³ technology to deliver 6 Energy Star approved glass glazing options that help to mitigate the heat island effect through high solar reflectance and high thermal emittance. See page 5 for test results on Columbia s glazing options. When used in combination with vegetated roofing Columbia Skylights and Sun tubes can assist in providing additional energy savings. points Credit SS 8.0 LIGHT POLLUTION REDUCTION Reduce the light that trespasses from a building at night. Columbia Skylight Blinds are available in three fabric options: Privacy, Light Filtering and Blackout. Privacy, Light Filtering and Blackout blinds block 20%, 35% and 99% of light respectively. Every blind comes with aluminium side rails that prevents light leakage around the edges of the fabric. All Columbia Skylight Blinds can be configured to block light leakage from a building at night. See Table 3, page 6. Energy efficiency Credit EA.0 OPTIMIZE ENERGY PERFORMANCE The most important credit as reflected in the number of points available. Achieve increasing levels of energy performance above the prerequisite standard to reduce environmental impacts associated with excessive energy use. Venting Skylights are a source of natural air and ventilation. They can be used to reduce HVAC loads. Columbia s 6 glass glazing options are Energy Star approved. Each glazing option offers varying degrees of energy efficiency. See page 5 for test results. Sun Tubes used in applications where traditional windows or skylights cannot be installed lessen the need for artificial lighting solutions. Columbia s residential sun tubes are Energy Star approved in all 50 US States and in all 4 Canadian Climate zones. For a map of our location click here Columbia s Venting Skylights are a source of natural ventilation. Available in Manual and Electric venting kits, they providing fresh air circulation without increasing HVAC load. Venting Electric Skylight control allows for simultaneous control of multiple skylights using a wall switch or a remote. Columbia s Deluxe and Elite electric kits include rain sensors that close the skylight at the first sign of moisture. The adhesives and sealants used in Columbia s LoE³ -366 sealed glass units are emissions free and non hazardous resulting in no VOC emissions into the environment. points -2 Columbia Skylights arrive on site pre assembled, painted and coated where applicable. The finished units do not contribute to air pollution and do not release dust or fibres. Columbia Skylight Blinds provide light control for building occupants. 3 Blind options provide varying levels of light filtration. Blackout blinds block 99% of light. See Table 3 page 6. 4 3.0 Statement How Columbia Skylights may qualify Indoor Environmental Quality Credit Credit Description Columbia Skylights potential contribution points Credit EQ 6.2 CONTROLLABILITY OF SYSTEMS THERMAL COMFORT Provide comfort controls for at least 50% of the buildings occupants. Columbia Skylights are available in fixed and venting models. Venting skylights are available in manual and electric models. Manual venting models are operated by hand or with a telescopic pole. There are 3 venting electric options: Standard, Deluxe and Elite. VE Standard kit: Capable of controlling up to 4 skylights using a single gang electrical wall switch. VE Deluxe: Capable of controlling up to 4 skylights via a remote control. The kit also includes a rain sensor that closes the skylight at the first sign of moisture. VE Elite kit: Allows control of an infinite amount of skylights via an LED Remote. The remote features a thermostat that can be programmed to open and close the skylight based on room temperature. A rain sensor is also included. Columbia Skylight Blinds offer varying levels of protection against Heat Gain based on the model selected, See table 3, page 5. Blinds can be operated by hand or by telescopic pole. Credit EQ 8. DAYLIGHT Provide building occupants with a connection between indoor and outdoor space. Achieve a minimum glazing factor of 2% in a minimum of 75% of regularly occupied areas. Columbia Skylights translucent glass and acrylic glazing offer varying degrees of soft, diffused and glare free natural light. See glazing options on page 5 for technical specifications. Columbia s residential and commercial sun tubes offer natural daylighting solutions in spaces where traditional windows or skylights cannot be installed.
