CLEANSHIP Move Forward with Confidence

Why choose Bureau Veritas for CLEANSHIP Courtesy of Compagnie du Ponant Bureau Veritas Mission & Policy Since 1828, BV s mission has been to safeguard both wider global interests and the needs of its clients in terms of safety, security and environmental protection. This is achieved by developing, controlling and applying both BV and international standards in the design, construction and maintenance of ships and marine equipment. BV has extended its ethos of quality to many professional fields such as buildings, industry facilities, governmental services, international trade and certification. In all these sectors, BV s primary objective is to protect the needs and interests of its clients as well as those of the wider public. The group has a dedicated presence in 140 countries, with more than 62,000 employees, and over 370,000 clients. Bureau Veritas Marine and Offshore Division covers markets worldwide and today more than 10,600 ships are classed by BV. Bureau Veritas response to current and future environmental challenges Environmental issues are becoming increasingly important in the industries in which BV operates. This is because such issues have a direct effect on human health and on plant and animal life. Emissions of carbon dioxide, sulphur oxide and nitrogen oxide contribute to pollution of the seas and have potentially massive repercussions for the wellbeing of our planet. We must protect the environment while promoting sustainable development. Historically, the maritime industry has always played an active part in the prevention of environmental pollution. Indeed, maritime transport today is the most energy-efficient means of transporting goods on a per-tonne-mile basis. Technological developments and innovative techniques are now an integral part of the industry and are used to enhance environmental sustainability. Over the years, Bureau Veritas has developed a wide range of services and products to help shipowners implement existing and new environmental regulations and to manage related risks.

CLEANSHIP Benefits of CLEANSHIP Notations Pollution prevention notations provide full visibility during the ship s lifetime within the scope of environmental issues for Owners, Yards, Flag and Port Authorities as well as for other potential stakeholders. CLEANSHIP notations are issued and regularly adjusted in order to fulfil the requirements of IMO conventions, and to provide options for further environment-friendly equipment and installations, from the design stage and through the whole lifetime of the vessel. Two voluntary class notations are available: CLEANSHIP and CLEANSHIP SUPER. Criteria used for CLEANSHIP Notations Limitation of Sea pollution Stowage aboard, ability to transfer ashore, diminution in release of polluting substances into seawater such as hydrocarbons, sewage, noxious products, garbage, grey and black water are examined. Limitation of Air pollution Levels of greenhouse and ozone-depleting product emissions are limited and checked. Enhanced criteria Environment-friendly designs and practices are recognized through additional notations which can be combined with CLEANSHIP such as: Ballast water treatment Cold ironing at harbour Reduced level of emissions for polluting substances compared to actual limitations Vapour control systems for tankers Additional aspects handled by Bureau Veritas regarding protection of the environment Bureau Veritas is already closely involved with other pollution prevention related areas such as: Inventory list of hazardous materials during building and lifetime of ships is assessed by Bureau Veritas, through the GREEN PASSPORT notation (NR 528) Assessment of Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) (IMO MEPC.203(62)) Assessment of Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) (IMO MEPC.203(62)) Use of LNG as propulsion fuel with BV notations DUAL-FUEL and GAS-FUEL (NR 529).

CLEANSHIP SUPER Which vessels can be granted CLEANSHIP Notations? Pollution prevention additional notation may be granted to any type of ship, irrespective of its pattern of operation, in any trading area. EXAMPLE: CLEANSHIP SUPER (AW Ship designed for wate CLEANSHIP MARPOL Annexes I, IV, V, VI Anti Fouling System Bilge water holding tank Overflow and containment systems for oil Requirements on refrigeration systems Garbage management plan Additional requirements such as: Minimum capacity for bilge water holding tank Sewage treatment plant installed and 24-hour holding tank production Grey water minimum retention capacity Food waste refrigerated storage GREEN Hazardous

The CLEANSHIP fleet In January 2014, 437 vessels have been granted one of the CLEANSHIP notations. These included 237 oil, chemical or asphalt tankers, 26 Gas Carriers, 46 container ships, 32 cruise and ro-pax vessels. T, NDO-2 DAYS, BWT) BWE r ballast exchange At least three additional notations mentioned capacity for sewage PASSPORT material inventory AWT Fitting of an Advanced Wastewater Treatment plant BWT Fitting of a Ballast Water Treatment plant GWT Fitting of a treatment installation for Grey Waters EGCS-Scrubber Vessel equipped with scrubber(s) as exhaust gas cleaning system. HVSC Fitting of a High Voltage Shore Connection. Alternatively, use of natural gas as fuel when the ship is at berth may be accepted SOX-x% Oil fuels used within and outside SECAs have a sulphur content not exceeding x% of the relevant IMO limit NDO-x days The ship is designed for No Discharge Operation during x days NOX-x% Average NOx emissions of engines not exceeding x% of IMO Tier II limit OWS-x ppm Effluent from approved oily water separator less than 15ppm VCS The ship is fitted with a Vapour Control System (for tankers)
