1 Mayo Renewable Power Killala Construction Works Monthly Environmental Report 010 April 2016 Executive Summary John Sisk & Son (Holdings) Ltd. commissioned NVM Ltd. to monitor and report on Noise, Dust and Water for the construction phase of the Mayo Renewable Power (MRP) plant at Killala, County Mayo. All sampling, analysis and reporting as per MRP Construction Management Plan (CMP) 1. Attached are the findings and conclusions of all sampling and analysis carried out by NVM Limited between the dates 31 st to 28 th of April 2016 accompanied by required appendices. All data was reviewed with the following of note: Noise These readings were logged at regular intervals throughout the month of April. All such readings are attributed to relatively low level construction noise audible at site boundaries. All data from the manned surveys were within specified recorded baseline levels as per the current CMP document. Dust Deposition During this reporting period no issues of concern were recorded at any of the four dust deposition monitoring locations. All results for this sampling period were within the limit of 350mg/m 2 /day. Water All surface water monitoring and analysis data recorded within this reporting period remain at acceptable levels in accordance with requirements of the CMP. 1 ref: John Sisk & Son (Holdings) Ltd. 3 1.0 INTRODUCTION NVM limited have been requested to provide an environmental noise, dust and water continuous monitoring plan for John Sisk & Son (Holdings) Limited during construction works of the new MRP plant, Killala, Co Mayo. The intention is to monitor the impact to the immediate vicinity from construction and environmental noise, dust emissions and water quality during the development. The following report includes details of monthly monitoring and data collection procedures as completed on site on Thursday the 28 th of April Methodology All monitoring is completed in general accordance with the following standards: ; BS 5228 Control of Noise and Vibration on Open sites: ISO 1996:2, Acoustics Description, measurement and assessment of environmental noise Part 2: Determination of environmental noise levels. EPA Guidance note for Noise: Licence Applications, surveys and Assessments in Relation to Scheduled Activities (NG4):2012. TA Luft VDI 2119 Bergerhoff dust sampling method. Surface water sampling will be completed in general accordance with European Communities Environmental Objectives (Surface Waters) (Amendment) Regulations, 2015 (S.I. No. 386 of 2015). Groundwater Sampling will be completed in general accordance with European Communities Environmental Objectives (Groundwater) (Amendment) Regulations, 2012 (S.I. No. 149 of 2012). Calibration Certificates for all instrumentation used for monitoring is contained in the Appendix I of this report.

Currently, attended noise surveys are carried out on a weekly basis for a duration of 1 hour (T 1hour) at each monitoring point. 3 ref: John Sisk & Son (Holdings) Ltd. There are 4 no. dust installations (D1; D2; D3; D4) consisting of plastic HDPE jars in Bergerhoff dust gauges; non-hazardous dust deposition will be collected on a monthly basis. Table 3.1. Dust results from collected samples for the monitoring period 31/03/ /04/2016. NVM Ltd. - Mayo Renewable Power (Killala) Construction Management Plan Rev th October 2015: Section 10: Environmental Monitoring Plan Dust
7 The relatively high dust levels at D1 may be directly associated with a high level of construction activity in the immediate area around this location i.e. soil deposition and stock-piling / storage of site stone for construction use. 4.0 WATER QUALITY MONITORING Details of the water monitoring plan and monitoring locations are outlined in the relevant sections of the Construction Management Plan (CMP) for this project 5. Going forward from Wednesday October 28 th 2015 sampling frequency by NVM Ltd. has been changed from 1-weekly to 1-monthly. Samples are collected from 2 no. of surface water locations (SW1, SW2) and from 2 no. of boreholes (GW1, GW2). These samples are subsequently sent to an accredited laboratory for analysis. SISK is to carry out in-situ monitoring at the SW1; surface water is sampled and visually inspected on a daily basis and groundwater water quality is sampled monthly by SISK. These samples are based on the only potential pathways to the natural water from Construction Works. All sampling and analysis is carried out in accordance with standard methodologies 67 and the MRP Killala CMP. Recorded baseline measurements may be referred to in the CMP against which any changes in water quality can be determined through on-going monitoring during construction operations. The following tables show results of monthly samples collected at surface and groundwater points on the 28 th of April Results of daily monitoring by SISK are presented in an excel spreadsheet in the Appendix II of this report. 5 Ref: John Sisk & Son (Holdings) Ltd.
