1 Title Ebco Metal Finishing Ltd. About us About our new facility Ebco Metal Finishing Ltd. has been safely and successfully operating in the Lower Mainland since Family owned and operated, we deliver high quality metal finishing and hot-dip galvanizing services for projects here and around the world. 32ND AVENUE We recently built a new facility in Campbell Heights in Surrey which when fully operational will employ approximately 40 people, most of whom live nearby. The new galvanizing operation will replace our current facility in Richmond. Our Richmond facility operates safely and in accordance with air permitting requirements; however to improve and expand our business, we need a new Key improvements with the new facility include: State of the art galvanizing equipment Fully-enclosed galvanizing kettle with filters to capture particulate emissions Tough, puncture- and crack-resistant chemical tanks to minimize the potential for leaks Plastic lined chemical containment pits isolated from storm and sanitary facility. We are moving so we can grow our sewers to capture and contain chemicals in the unlikely event of a 180TH STREET 192ND STREET business, be closer to our customers and employees, and reduce our impact spill or leak on the environment. Our new purposebuilt facility will use many of the modern 24TH AVENUE technologies and emissions controls that we have been testing in Richmond, and it will be cleaner, safer and more efficient. 20TH AVENUE
2 Galvanizing What is Galvanizing? Galvanizing is the process of applying a zinc coating to steel to prevent rust. This includes cleaning and dipping steel products into special high-grade zinc metal. Galvanized steel reduces the need for maintenance, is less toxic than paint (no Volatile Organic Compounds), and can have a life span of up to 75 years or more, with little effect on the surrounding environment. Galvanized steel is 100% recyclable. What is Zinc? Zinc is a naturally occurring element found in air, water and soil. Zinc is considered essential for all life humans, animals and plants. GALVANIZED STEEL IS USED FOR: Construction Agricultural Hydro electric Bridges Highway structures including guardrails, light poles and signs It is found in many consumer, agriculture, industrial and infrastructure products, including: Sunscreen Cold remedies Fertilizer Farm equipment Car tires Zinc has many beneficial properties: Boosts immunity by helping to regulate the production of cells in our body Makes it possible for cells to multiply, an essential process during pregnancy A vital element for plant growth; zinc deficiencies can affect the yield and quality of food crops
3 Galvanizing Key Steps in Galvanizing The Galvanizing Process Receive steel products from manufacturers Remove oil and dirt from steel Cleaning in a cleaning solution Clean rust from steel in a mild Rinsing acid solution Dip cleaned steel in a water-based solution to prepare metal for coating Pickling Coat steel in heated high-grade zinc metal in an enclosed area Air cool the coated steel Rinsing Package coated steel products for delivery Flux solution Drying Zinc bath Cooling and inspection
