2 Anhydrous Fire-Resistant Hydraulic Fluids (HFD) Houghton anhydrous fluids are based on highquality esters and formulated with antioxidants to be thermally and chemically stable, ensuring excellent fluid performance and long life without system change-out. Cosmolubric HF Series Polyol Esters (HFDU) Cosmolubric HF Series fluids are synthetic polyol ester hydraulic fluids that are chemically and thermally stable. They are designed for long service life and dependable performance in areas where a less flammable hydraulic fluid is required. The additive package in these fluids provides the best possible mechanical performance, providing corrosion protection, metal passivation, hydrolytic stability and oxidation inhibition. These products are available in two viscosity grades: ISO VG 46 and ISO VG 68. Cosmolubric B Series Vegetable Oil-Based Fluids passivation and oxidation inhibition, even when abused in service. They are primarily composed of renewable source materials and are therefore USDA-certified as bio-based products. These products have virtually zero toxicity to the environment and aquatic life, making them ideal for outdoor mobile hydraulic equipment and other environmentally sensitive equipment. Cosmolubric B Series products have passed Vickers 35VQ mobile equipment pump test and FZG load stage 12 test, making our B Series well suited for rolling mill automatic gauge control systems, coilers and continuous casting equipment. Houghto-Safe 1000 Series Phosphate Esters (HFDR) Houghto-Safe 1000 Series fluids are phosphate ester fluids that display excellent lubricating properties and operate at high pressures and at temperatures up to 150 F. They are Factory Mutual-approved for operation in all types of pumps and hydraulic components. Cosmolubric B Series fluids are the latest development in our line of fire-resistant hydraulic fluids. 4 Water-Based Fire-Resistant Hydraulic Fluids Water-based fluids are the most cost-effective option for hydraulic equipment. Metal producers and food processors choose Houghton water glycols because they are extremely stable and can be used at lower ambient temperatures. Houghto-Safe Water Glycol Fluids (HFC) Steel producers, automobile manufacturers and food processors around the world choose Factory Mutual-approved Houghto-Safe water glycols because they provide the optimum combination of fire resistance, performance and economy. Houghton has developed a variety of water glycol fluids for specific industry needs, including fluids that meet Military Specification MIL-H and fluids approved for incidental food contact. These products can be used in applications well below freezing. Hydrolubric High Water Content Fluids (HFA) Hydrolubric 120 Series products are synthetic water additives designed to meet the needs of central water systems using reciprocating plunger, multistage centrifugal or multi-stage gear pumps. The polarity of the synthetic components in these products provides a film on metal surfaces that effectively reduces friction coefficients, enhancing lubricity and protecting against aqueous corrosion. Shipped as concentrates, they are: Typically used at 2% 5% concentration. Readily dispersible in water. Biodegradable, offering advantages in handling and disposal when compared to conventional soluble oils. These products are frequently used in steel mills, foundries and automotive tire production. When subjected to winter ambient temperatures, antifreeze protection can be applied.
