2 OUR COMPANY IN BRIEF AT A GLANCE Aqua Engineering has started as an engineering firm and soon developed into an EPC contractor for turnkey water treatment systems in the fields of industrial process water, conventional and advanced municipal drinking water and sewage treatment plants and membrane desalination systems for saline water and seawater. First experiences with membrane based desalination was made back in 1986 and the first major contract in seawater desalination was booked with Abu Dhabi WED in 1988, marking also the beginning of a success story in desalination in the Gulf Region and particularly in the United Arab Emirates. Many turnkey municipal water systems were successfully delivered using various processes with the majority of such plants supplied to City water works in China, combined with financing, as well as Eastern European cities. HISTORY Aqua Engineering has installed more than 100 projects worldwide with over 50 large scale municipal drinking water, sewage treatment and desalination plants. The main areas of operation were traditionally Europe, China and the Middle Eastern countries. Aqua Engineering was first established in 1963 and made in 1981 into a subsidiary of the German based THYSSEN AG, was part of Austrian based BWT Group and later CHRIST WATER, was taken over by Canadian GLV and became a part of OVIVO Water Group. After demerger from Ovivo, Aqua Engineering is under its original brand name.
