QUESTION 1 SOALAN 1 As a design engineer, you are asked to redesign a superheated power plant to increase electricity power. You have to come up with an idea using reheated steam using two (2) stages of turbine. The data available are as below: Anda sebagai Jurutera rekabentuk bagi Stesen loji kuasa Stim diminta merekabentuk semula loji kuasa Panas Lampau untuk meningkatkan kuasa elektrik. Anda perlu sediakan idea menggunakan stim pemanasan semula dengan menggunakan turbin dua (2) peringkat. 3 QUESTION 2 SOALAN 2 C1 (a) Define the meaning of Mean Effective Pressure (MEP) of Otto cycle. Berikan definisi Tekanan Berkesan Min bagi kitaran Otto. (b) In an Otto cycle, air at the beginning of isentropic compression is at 1 bar and 15 o C, with ratio of compression is at 8. If the heat added during the constant volume process is 1000 kj/kg, determine: Take C v = kj/kg K, and γ = 1.4 Di dalam kitaran Otto, udara pada awal pemampatan seentropi adalah pada 1 bar dan 15 o C, nisbah mampatan ialah 8. 6 QUESTION 4 SOALAN 4 A gas turbine plant operates with a pressure ratio of 9:1. The plant consists of two units of compressor (with complete and ideal intercooling), a combustion chamber and a turbine. Air enters the compressor at 30 o C with a flow rate of 20 kg/s. The maximum temperature in the cycle is 600 o C. For the system, the mass of fuel is neglected. Sebuah loji turbin gas beroperasi dengan nisbah tekanan 9:1. Loji terdiri daripada dua buah pemampat (dengan pendinginan antara yang lengkap dan ideal), sebuah kebuk pembakaran dan sebuah turbin. 8 QUESTION 5 SOALAN 5 A refrigeration machine using R-12 as refrigerant operates between the pressure 2.5 bar and bar. The compression is isentropic and there is no undercooling in the condenser. The temperature of the outer wall surface is 40 0 C. Referring to Figure 6, the right side of the tank is covered by soft rubber layer 0.5 cm due to leakage. Calculate the temperature of rubber layer outer surface. Consider the rate of heat transfer is equal for both sides tank wall and the convective heat transfer coefficient of oil is 80 W/m 2 K. Anggapkan kadar pemindahan haba adalah SAMA untuk kedua-dua belah dinding tangki dan nilai pekali pemindahan haba (h) untuk minyak 80 W/m 2 K.
