3 Ar Force ST-01 POL Former Ar Force Reserve Petroleum Tank Area Ste orgnated from a jet fuel spll n the 1970 s Injectons of persulfate and Epsom salt replaced the bosparge system n 2016 Petroleum tanks were dsmantled n 2016 allowng for removal of any petroleum mpacted sol that may be present under the tanks. 175 tons of presumed petroleum mpacted sol removed from beneath tanks and dsposed of at lcensed faclty. Confrmatory samplng programmed for

5 PFCs on Horsham AGS In 2015, ANG completed a Prelmnary Assessment of potental perfluornated compound PFC) release stes at the Horsham Ar Guard Staton AGS) Ten potental PFC source areas dentfed n the PA nclude: Buldngs that contaned foam fre suppresson systems Areas that may have receved runoff from foam releases Stormwater sedment basn Former waste water treatment plant Former storage area for wastewater treatment sludge These potental source areas are beng further nvestgated by Ledos n a PFC Faclty Investgaton 5

7 PFC Faclty Investgaton Intal results reported n Techncal Memorandum sol, surface water, sedment, exstng wells, and tank samplng). Draft Memo June 2016, Fnal Memo October Shallow 11), ntermedate 8), and deep 7) wells nstalled. Shallow wells sampled, ntermedate and deep samplng completed. Permeter multport well nstallaton completed and two rounds of samplng completed; results pendng. Geophyscal loggng conducted at 15 locatons Packer Testng conducted at base supply wells and a deep montorng well. Month long water level montorng completed on 6 montorng wells near the Base supply wells. Drawdown was observed at each well confrmng hydraulc connecton n each compass drecton and at varous depths. 7

9 Interm Fndngs Well nstallatons confrm artesan condtons and confned to semconfned aqufers. Shallow well sample results are smlar to pre-exstng well results. No new source areas drectly ndcated. Packer tests conducted on supply well NAS-2 ndcate hgher concentratons of PFOA/PFOA n central porton of the borehole. Concentratons at supply well NAS-1 and montorng well DMW-07 declne wth depth. Addtonal rock samplng ndcates PFOS/PFOA not present n rock matrx. Rock core samples llustrate the vertcal and horzontal varaton n lthology. Deep and ntermedate well par along northern boundary ndcate low PFOS/PFOA concentratons. Deep and ntermedate well par along southern boundary ndcate hgh PFOS/PFOA concentratons. 9

10 Next Steps Prepare draft Faclty Investgaton Report FIR). Antcpated date for draft s md-july FIR wll contan results and dscusson of all PFC Faclty Investgaton work conducted to date. 10

11 PFCs n Surface Water on Horsham Ar Guard Staton PFCs have been detected n surface water leavng the Horsham Ar Guard Staton. Ths water flows from a storm water detenton basn on the northwest boundary of the Base to Park Creek whch flows to the Lttle Neshamny Creek. The ANG s nvestgatng ths release of PFCs to the Creek: Carbon fltraton nstalled on Base supply wells n July Snce then over 20 mllon gallons of water have been treated by the flters. Leakng water supply nfrastructure removed from servce n late Artesan condtons are present n groundwater montorng wells near the storm water basn. Therefore the source of the PFCs n the pond s lkely surfacng groundwater. Investgatng engneered solutons to flter effluent from detenton basn. 11

12 PFCs n Drnkng Water In October 2015, Ar Natonal Guard and Warrngton Townshp entered nto a 5.8 mllon Cooperatve Agreement to: Connect resdents wth Perfluornated Compound PFC) mpacted drnkng water wells above the Health Advsory to muncpal water and abandon the mpacted prvate wells. Water connectons to begn at end of ths month. Install water mans as needed Installaton and mantenance of carbon flters on three Townshp wells Cooperatve Agreement amended n 2017 addng 7.7 mllon to: Install carbon fltraton on two muncpal wells taken off lne n May 2016 due to lowerng the Health Advsory Level to 70 parts per trllon Install muncpal water system nterconnectons wth North Wales Water Authorty to ensure Warrngton Townshp has adequate access to water untl carbon fltraton s nstalled on muncpal wells 12
