Sewage Treatment Plant Dublin City Ringsend Dundalk Drogheda Tullamore Sligo Kilarney Swords?, Shankhill?, Little Island?
In Construction Biocore Roscommon Ormonde Organics, Youghal Veolia, Kildare (Sewage) Teagasc, Grange
REFIT 3 Rates 15c/kWh if < 500kW (11c for non CHP) 13c/kWh if > 500kW (10c for non CHP) Indexed linked on a 15 year basis Closed December 2015
Generators Approved for REFIT 3 Electricity Generator Approx Capacity Accepted in REFIT (MW) Green Generation, Kildare 1.06 Biocore, Roscommon 0.49 Green Gas AD, Limerick 1.00 Ormonde, Kilowen Biogas, Waterford 1.00 Ballyshannon Biogas, Wexford 0.10 Sandford Energy, Kerry 0.49 Rockbrook, Laois??? 0.49
REFIT Electricity Support As a result of the tariff being too low in Ireland, there have been few applications for support under REFIT 3 by AD plant developers. Consequently, the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources reduced the allowance under REFIT 3 for AD from 50MW to 15MW reallocating the budget for 35MW to biomass instead. The REFIT 3 scheme closed on 31st December 2015 and there is currently no replacement scheme in place to support electricity generation from biogas which has exacerbated uncertainty in the market and further destabilised investor confidence.
Biomethane Potential to replace more than one quarter (28%) of gas supply by 2050 according to a new study by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).
Biomethane IERC Green Gas Certification Scheme Green Generation, Kildare first plant to inject biomethane into the natural gas grid Unilever, Cork green gas from UK Supported under Renewable Heat Incentive no details yet
Causeway Causeway Project will see the formation of a national Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) refuelling network, a renewable gas injection facility and the deployment of CNG vehicles.
AD Benefits Co2
Report Conclusions Reports assesses that potential in terms of available feedstocks and quantifies the benefits in terms of GHG emission reduction by 2030 to 32% of total national Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In terms of absolute figures, all evaluated scenarios of power production and combined heat and power production exhibit cumulative annual offsets ranging from 1.1 billion to 1.5 billion Euro by 2030, depending on the corresponding CO 2 eq price. In addition to quantifiable benefits outlined in the reports, there are additional benefits which cannot be easily quantified, nor economically assessed. Among these benefits is flexible use of the natural gas grid for heating, cooling and transport, rural development and sustainable agriculture, improved air quality related to alternative waste treatment pathways.
RHI & RES Renewable Heat Incentive 7m for biogas and Biomass No details on rates Small budget Renewable Electricity Support Consultation closes 3 Nov
