1 July 27, 2015 ADDENDUM # Silicone Sealing of Vertical Joints in Exterior Siding at the Family Arena Addendum #1 is being issued to address/clarify questions from the Pre-Bid meeting as follows: Contractor shall be responsible for sealing the vertical joints in the siding from the bottom of the siding up to the upper roof. Contractor shall be responsible for sealing the horizontal bands in the siding wherever they intersect the verticals. The groups of 3 verticals together will be sealed as one horizontal out 6 past the verticals. Contractor shall be responsible for following the manufacturer s instructions to achieve the 10 year manufacturer warranty. Contractor shall provide a 1 year warranty on all material and labor. See manufacturer s instructions attached below. Bidders shall sign this Addendum as acknowledgment and return it with the bid. Field adhesion testing should be done to determine if primer is required for proper adhesion of Dow Corning 791 or 795 Silicone Sealant to the substrate. 1 DESCRIPTION Dow Corning 123 Silicone Seal is a preformed, ultra-low modulus silicone extrusion that is bonded to substrates using Dow Corning 791 Silicone Perimeter Sealant or Dow Corning 795 Silicone Building Sealant. 1 Easy-to-install Dow Corning 123 Silicone Seal can be used in both new and remedial construction applications. Dow Corning 123 Silicone Seal is available in the following standard colors: black, white, grey, bronze, limestone and sandstone. This product is also available in custom colors (1000 linear feet [305 m] minimum). 1 Other Dow Corning brand sealants may be recommended depending on the installation requirements The same color of Dow Corning 791 or 795 Silicone Sealant should be used to bond the seal to the substrate. In addition to standard and custom colors, Dow Corning 123 Silicone Seal is also available in a textured finish. The color or texture can also be altered at the job site using Dow Corning AllGuard Silicone Elastomeric Coating. In addition to custom colors, Dow Corning 123 Silicone Seal is also available in custom extrusions with grooves to facilitate bending and dimensional shapes. These Preparation Work Porous surfaces should be cleaned with abrasion cleaning followed by blasts of oil-free compressed air. If high-pressure water cleaning is necessary, use caution to prevent water from entering the structure through the existing failed joint. Exterior surfaces must be visibly dry before installing Dow Corning 123 Silicone Seal. Nonporous surfaces should be cleaned using the two-cloth solvent wipe as outlined in Dow Corning s sealant application guidelines. Masking Apply masking tape in areas of high visibility to ensure good aesthetics (see Figure 2). Note: Rough surfaces will require larger beads of sealant to seal the valleys of the substrate. The sealant should be applied approximately 1 / 4 " (6 mm) inside the masking tape on both sides of the joint. The minimum bonded area must be at least 3 / 8 " (9 mm) (see Figure 2). Within 10 minutes of sealant application, press the extrusion into the sealant to wet the extrusion, substrate and sealant. A roller can be used to apply consistent pressure to ensure uniform contact. The ridges on the back of Dow Corning 123 Silicone Seal will help ensure proper sealant coverage. 5 Clean-Up Remove masking tape and excess sealant. Maintenance No maintenance should be needed. The surface can be cleaned with soap and water. If the seal becomes damaged, replace the damaged portion. The sealant and coating are used with compatible materials and substrates, and (testing/evaluation is required to obtain this warranty if the surface is not recommended in our Surface Preparation Guide which is available in published or electronic form), and c. The sealant and coating are applied within its stated shelf life, and d. Field adhesion tests are made, documented, retained, and submitted to Dow Corning upon written request as outlined in our Field Adhesion Test Procedure in order to confirm adhesion under site conditions. LIMITATIONS This Warranty specifically excludes adhesive and/or cohesive failure of the sealant due to: a. Use of the sealant as a structural or load-bearing sealant. b. Natural causes including but not limited to lightning, earthquake, hurricane, flooding, tornado, and fire. c. Improper installation. d. Movement of the structure resulting in stresses on the sealant, 123 seal and/or coating which exceed Dow Corning's published specifications for elongation and/or compression for the sealant, 123 seal and/or coating, including but not limited to structural settlement, design error, or construction error. e. Faults attributable to workmanship including but not limited to improper surface preparation, use of non-approved materials, insufficient coating thickness, or deviation from Dow Corning recommended application procedures. And does not cover damage to, or failure of, the sealant due to: a. Disintegration, deterioration, or failure of the underlying substrates (including but not limited to cracking, blistering, or peeling). Page 2 of 4

Mechanical damage including but not limited to surface abrasion, individuals, tools, vandalism or other outside agents. c. Changes in appearance of the sealant, including but not limited to, natural weathering (whitening, chalking, fading, staining), the accumulation of dirt or other contaminants deposited on the sealant from the atmosphere, or from incompatible substrates. Changes in the appearance of the coating and/or 123 seal, including but not limited to, natural weathering (whitening, chalking, fading, staining), the accumulation of dirt or other contaminants deposited on the coating and/or 123 seal from the atmosphere, or from incompatible substrates. This warranty excludes costs and damages attributed to mold, mildew and/or fungus. The warranty also specifically excludes costs and damages resulting from the presence of any hazardous materials in the existing sealants, coatings, substrates, or the environment/location in which the sealant is installed or applied, including but not limited to: a. Establishing appropriate safe handling procedures for the removal of sealants and/or coatings. b. Removal or disposal of the existing sealants and/or coatings. c. Removal or disposal of Dow Corning silicone sealants and/or coatings after installation. Dow Corning sealants are not intended for encapsulating any hazardous materials. Dow Corning s warranty does not cover faults attributable to workmanship. This warranty will be null and void if Dow Corning or the Dow Corning distributor has not received payments for the products used. REMEDIES In the event of a claim under this warranty, you must notify Dow Corning Corporation within thirty (30) days of the claimed defect and provide Dow Corning with the opportunity to inspect. Dow Corning shall, for Warranty Duration Period from the warranty effective date, be responsible for the cost of replacement sealant and 123 Silicone Seal to make any warranty-related repairs. In addition, Dow Corning shall, for Warranty Duration Period from the warranty effective date, be responsible for the cost of the replacement DOW CORNING AllGuard Silicone Elastomeric Coating and the labor, up to a maximum of five (5) times the price of replacement coating, to make any warranty-related repairs. DOW CORNING SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR AND EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ANY LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE TO THE CONTENTS OF THE STRUCTURE OR FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGE, WHETHER IN CONTRACT OR IN TORT, INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE.
