1 Waste Management is part of ISO 14001, includes Impact analysis, Impact scoring, Environment Management Programs (EMP s) & Environment Operating Procedures (EOP s). ISO is periodically reviewed and audited by internal & external auditors. Environmental Lab is equipped with all necessary instruments / Equipment s. Environment team is following and complying all the stipulations made by Ministry of Environment & Forest /CPCB/KSPCB. VC is maintaining all stacks emission well below norms. All Main stacks Emission and ambient air quality is connected to CPCB server & we are ready to connect KSPCB server due to lack of server at KSPCB it is pending. We have policy guideline for Waste and Scrap management. Systematic Disposal System for waste Continuous awareness to society for Swatch Bharat Abhiyan.

2 Waste Management in Office: 1. Complete waste generated in Office is packed by contact labours 2. Same is made in to bundle, stored in common place 3. Complete lot is sent to HOT DISC for burning, the heat generated is used in our process of cement making. 4. Waste generated in School is brought to same Hot disc for firing Students giving memoranda to shop keepers to reduce plastic bags Educating parents with a message of Plastic Hatao Rally

3 Collection, Segregation and Storage: For collecting the basic waste like road swept dust, Cotton waste and Scraps, concrete bins are constructed placed conveniently at various places in the plant and colony premises. Plant generated waste/scrap items are segregated, approved from scrap committee, are weighed & transported to scrap storage yards. (inventory : stores & respective Dept). Damaged cement bags & Wrappers collected, weighed and sent to stores for disposal ( Inventory: packing plant) Used lubrication oil/grease is stored at Waste Oil storage platform (Inventory: Env. Dept) E-Waste, Waste Batteries generated in the plant will be sent to store yard for disposal to authorized re-processor/oem. On Buy back sysem. (Inventory: Env. Dept) Bio-Medical waste generated in Occupational Health Centre is collected/segregated & disposed as per rules (Inventory: OHC). Disposal Mechanism: Metal Scrap, Refractory Scrap will be disposed to re-cycling agency. Waste tyres, Cotton waste & oil soaked cotton waste, plastic waste, Paper waste & rubber waste (Belt Conveyor Waste,V-Belts, etc) will be co-processed in HDR to convert waste to energy. Waste damaged cement bags & wrappers are disposed to re-cycling party by stores. Waste batteries are disposed to OEM disposed to authorized agency. with Buy Back Policy & electronic waste Waste used lubrication oil either co-processed in kiln or disposed off to authorized recycler. Power plant fly ash used in cement manufacturing process. Power plant effluent water & total sewage water is treated and used inside the plant for equipment cooling, Gas Conditioning Tower, Cooler, Vertical Roller Mill & in Ball mill water Spray & Gardening. Bio-Medical waste disposed off to authorized agency (CEE Champ Kalaburagi)

4 Solid Waste Management: Hazardous Solid wastes 1. From VC Thermal Power Plant i. Fly ash ( 100% Using in PPC manufacturing) ii. Bed ash (100% Using in Cement manufacturing) 2. Waste Batteries from Cement plant, power plant & mines ( Replacement of old batteries with new one from OEM : Buy Back Policy) 3. Bio medical Waste : Occupational Health Center (Disposed to authorized Incinerator) 4. Oil soaked cotton waste : Co-Processing in HDR Non- Hazardous Solid wastes 1. High Silica Low grade Lime Stone ( Using as Alternate raw material ). 2. Metal Scrap (Disposed to reprocessing). 3. Refractory waste materials in Pyro-Process System ( Disposed to reprocessing ). 4. Waste damaged bags ( Disposed to reprocessing ). 5. Used Old Tire Waste : Co-Processing in HDR 6. Land filling Waste : like construction debris, & garden mixed waste, etc. HOT DISC reactor which can burn any type of AFR

10 Plastic Neutral Plant Since we need to dispatch our cement in PP Bags, we feel responsible for waste generation as we will not be knowing where our bags will be disposed after use of cement. In this aspect we thought of making our self as Plastic Positive plant we have decided to consume at least equal or more than plastic of society and burn in our kiln and generate heat of it. In this aspect we have worked with Goa Government, where in 25 Number of Carporations of Goa will collect plastic of Goa and segregate and convert in to Belly. These belly are brought to our plant and used as AFR in our Hot Disc Reactor In this way we are committed to make Goa Plastic Free State and get our self as Plastic neutral plant Plastic Waste (MT) Plastic waste Co-Processing 4521 Cement Packing Bags 4448 Industry Participation in Construction of Public / Community Toilet As mission of Swach Bharat, VC fells responsible for Making Community swachh As part of it we have constructed 226 Number of Toilets and Especially for Women s we have created 10 number of toilets. This covers our complete plant area and surrounding where our people live.
