1 2017 Water Quality Reprt fr Harbr Beach Water Treatment Plant 1 This reprt cvers the quality fr the Harbr Beach Water Treatment Plant fr the calendar year This infrmatin is a snapsht f the quality f the water prvided t yu in Included are details abut where the water cmes frm, what it cntains, and hw it cmpares t EPA and State standards. The Harbr Beach Water Treatment Plant (HBWTP) btains water frm Lake Hurn, ne f the quality surces f fresh water in the wrld. The State perfrmed an assessment f ur surce water in The surce water area fr the Harbr Beach intake includes 17 ptential cntaminant surces. These cntaminant surces, cmbined with the highly sensitive intake, leads t a highly susceptible determinatin fr the Harbr Beach water supply intake. The final assessment reprt is available fr review at the water plant. Cntaminants and their presence in water: Drinking water, including bttled water, may reasnably be expected t cntain at least small amunts f. The presence f des nt necessarily indicate that water pses a health risk. Mre infrmatin abut and ptential health effects can be btained by calling the EPA s Safe Drinking Water Htline ( ) Vulnerability f sub-ppulatins: Sme peple may be mre vulnerable t in drinking water than the general ppulatin. Immun-cmprmised persns such as persns wh have undergne rgan transplants, underging chemtherapy, peple with HIV/AIDS r ther immune system disrders, sme elderly, and infants can be particularly at risk frm infectins. These peple shuld seek advice abut frm their health care prviders. EPA/CDC guidelines n apprpriate means t lessen the risk f infectin by Cryptspridium and ther micrbial are available frm the Safe Drinking Water Htline. Surces f Drinking Water: The surces f (Bth tap water and bttled water) include rivers, lakes, streams, pnds, reservirs, springs, and wells. As previusly stated, ur water cmes frm Lake Hurn. As water travels ver the surface f the land r thrugh the grund, it disslves naturally ccurring minerals, and in sme cases radiactive material, and can pick up substances resulting frm the presence f animals r humans. Cntaminants that may be present in surce water include: Micrbial: such as viruses and bacteria, which may cme frm sewage treatment plants, septic systems, agricultural livestck peratins, and wildlife Inrganic: such as salts and metals, which can be naturally ccurring r result frm urban strm runff, industrial r dmestic wastewater discharges, il and gas prductin, mining and farming Pesticides and herbicides: which may cme frm a variety f surces such as agriculture and residential use Radiactive: which can be naturally ccurring r be the result f il and gas prductin and mining activities Organic chemicals: including synthetic and vlatile rganic chemicals, which are by-prducts f industrial prcesses and petrleum prductin, and can cme frm gas statin, urban strm water runff, septic systems In rder t ensure that tap water is safe t drink, EPA prescribes regulatins that limit the amunt f certain in water prvided by public water systems. FDA regulatins establish limits fr in bttled water which prvide the same prtectin fr public health.

2 2017 Water Quality Reprt fr Harbr Beach Water Treatment Plant 2 The table belw lists all the that we detected during the 2017 calendar year. The presence f these in the water des nt necessarily indicate that the water pses a health risk. Unless therwise nted, the data presented in this table is frm testing dne January 1 December 31, The State allws us t mnitr fr certain less than nce per year because the cncentratins f these are nt expected t vary significantly frm year t year. All f the data is representative f the water quality, but sme may be mre than ne year ld. Terms and abbreviatins used belw: Maximum Cntaminant Level Gal (MCLG): The level f a cntaminant in belw which there is n knwn r expected risk t health.
