2 The Mediterranean Youth for Water Network (MedYWat) Empowering - Connecting - Change-Making MedYWat was launched at the CMI Youth Innovating with Wastewater for a Sustainable Mediterranean youth workshop (World Water Day on March in Marseille, France). The network counts over 80 young Mediterranean water researchers, entrepreneurs and activists working on water challenges in the region. MedYWat s goal: to give more voice to Mediterranean youth on the regional and global water agenda, while providing capacity-building and knowledge sharing opportunities and engaging with other youth water networks. Launch of the MedYWat network at the CMI youth workshop Youth Innovating with Wastewater for a Sustainable Mediterranean (World Water Day on March in Marseille, France)
3 The Center for Mediterranean Integration (CMI), Marseille, France Members Partners Observer Convenes international development agencies, Governments, local authorities and civil society from around the Mediterranean. Allows for the exchange of knowledge and the discussion of public policies. Helps to identify solutions needed to address key challenges facing the Mediterranean region. The CMI s overarching theme is youth. CMI Marseille
4 The Role of CMI o MedYWat convenes on a CMI-managed virtual platform (World Bank Collaboration 4 Development) and through webinars and face-to-face events organized by CMI. o CMI provides technical support and facilitation to MedYWat and sponsors MedYWat representatives participation at key regional and global water events while engaging CMI partners to interact with MedYWat. MedYWat members and water Heroes taking part in the 2017 World Water Day CMI workshop at Stockholm Water Week 2017.
5 The Mediterranean Water Heroes Contest Participants of the CMI 2018 World Water Day Young Mediterranean Water Heroes: Nature-based Solutions for a Water Secure Mediterranean youth workshop at Anafora, Egypt. Every year, CMI further expands MedYWat s membership through the Mediterranean Water Heroes Contest and its main water and youth event organized around the United Nations World Water Day.
6 The Mediterranean Youth for Water Network (MedYWat) Empowering - Connecting - Change-Making The general key topics are: - Water and Education; - Water Governance; - Water Treatment and Reuse - Water Planning and Management - Water and Migration - Blue innovation Key Topics The specific key topics are: - Integrated water resources management in the Mediterranean region on agriculture, good management practices, success water reuse projects - Water resources management in the Mediterranean region - Entrepreneurs seed funding and monitoring projects - Capacity-building and training
7 The Mediterranean Youth for Water Network (MedYWat) Empowering - Connecting - Change-Making Membership: MedYWat counts members from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Malta, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, Turkey, Greece, France, Italy, Spain, Yemen and Syria (15 countries). Members may be working for public institutions, research institutes, start-ups and companies, NGOs, or as freelancers. The ages are not limit once the heart is full of challenges.
