2 PRECAUTIONARY STATEMENTS HAZARDS TO HUMANS AND DOMESTIC ANIMALS CAUTION Causes moderate eye irritation. Harmful if swallowed absbed through skin. Avoid contact with skin, eyes clothing. Wash thoughly with soap and water after handling and befe eating, drinking, chewing gum, using tobacco using the toilet. Remove and wash contaminated clothing befe reuse. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) Some materials that are chemical-resistant to this product are listed below. Applicats and Other Handlers Must Wear: Long-sleeved shirt and long pants; chemical-resistant gloves, such as barrier laminate, butyl rubber, nitrile rubber, neoprene rubber, Viton; and shoes plus socks. Follow manufacturer s instructions f cleaning and maintaining PPE. If no such instructions f washables exist, use detergent and hot water. Keep and wash PPE separately from other laundry. When handlers use closed systems in a manner that meets the requirements listed in the Wker Protection Standard (WPS) f agricultural pesticides [40 CFR (d) (4)], the handler PPE may be reduced modified as specified in the WPS. USER SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS Users should: Wash hands befe eating, drinking, chewing gum, using tobacco, using the toilet. Remove clothing immediately if pesticide gets inside. Then wash thoughly and put on clean clothing. Remove PPE immediately after handling this product. Wash the outside of gloves befe removing. As soon as possible, wash thoughly and change into clean clothing. ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS Do not apply directly to water, to areas where surface water is present to intertidal areas below the mean high water mark. Treated seeds exposed on soil surface may be hazardous to wildlife. Cover collect treated seeds spilled during loading and planting. Dispose of all excess treated seed by burying seed away from bodies of water. Do not contaminate water when disposing of equipment washwater rinsate. Ipconazole may persist in soil, and long-term use in the same field may result in an accumulation of active ingredient. Groundwater Advisy: Metalaxyl is known to leach through soil into groundwater under certain conditions as a result of agricultural use. Use of this chemical in areas where soils are permeable, particularly where the water table is shallow, may result in groundwater contamination. DIRECTIONS FOR USE It is a violation of Federal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling. Read all label directions carefully befe use. Do not apply this product in a way that will contact wkers other persons. Only protected handlers may be in the area during application. F any requirements specific to your State Tribe, consult the agency responsible f pesticide regulation. AGRICULTURAL USE REQUIREMENTS Use this product only in accdance with its labeling and with the Wker Protection Standard, 40 CFR Part 170. This Standard contains requirements f the protection of agricultural wkers on farms, fests, nurseries, and greenhouses, and handlers of agricultural pesticides. It contains requirements f training, decontamination, notification, and emergency assistance. It also contains specific instructions and exceptions pertaining to the statements on this label about personal protective equipment (PPE) and restricted-entry interval. The requirements in this box only apply to uses of this product that are covered by the Wker Protection Standard. Do not enter allow wker entry into treated areas during the restricted entry interval (REI) of 24 hours. Exception: Once the seeds are planted in soil, the Wker Protection Standard, under certain circumstances, allows wkers to enter the treated area without restriction if there will be no wker contact with the soil subsurface treated seed. PPE required f early entry to treated areas that is permitted under the Wker Protection Standard and that involves contact with anything that has been treated, such as plants, soil, water, is: long-sleeved shirt and long pants; chemical-resistant gloves such as barrier laminate, butyl rubber, nitrile rubber, Viton; shoes plus socks. USE INFORMATION RANCONA CTS Seed Protectant is a systemic and contact broadspectrum fungicide f seed treatment that protects against a wide variety of diseases. RANCONA CTS is effective against smuts, bunts, Fusarium, Diapthe (Phomopsis), Rhizoctonia, Pythium and seed-bne Sclerotinia. It is also effective against seed rot fungi such as Aspergillus and Penicillium. Seed should be sound and well cured befe treatment. RANCONA CTS Seed Protectant may be used in combination with a mefenoxam metalaxyl containing product (such as BELMONT 2.7 FS) f enhanced Pythium and Phytophtha protection. Agitate the slurry to maintain unifmity. Recalibrate treating equipment to compensate f the addition of the other seed treatment products. NOTE regarding maximum usage when applying multiple metalaxyl and/ mefenoxam containing products to the same crop within the same season: Do not apply me than the maximum seasonal total f the active ingredient as stated on the label containing the lowest seasonal total on that crop. Do not use RANCONA CTS in combination with other seed treatment products unless their compatibility has been verified. Always read and follow carefully all label directions and precautions of each combination product. When using combinations of products, the most restrictive of label limitations and precautions must be followed. Do not tank mix with any pesticide that has a prohibition against tank mixing. NOTE: This product is undyed. The purchaser of this product is responsible f ensuring that all seed treated with this product are adequately coled with a suitable colant to prevent its ac cidental use as food f man feed f animals. 3 SEED TREATMENT EQUIPMENT Apply RANCONA CTS Seed Protectant using mechanical, slurry, mist-type seed treating equipment, provided that the equipment can be calibrated to accurately and unifmly apply the product to seed. Unifm application to seed is necessary to ensure best disease protection and optimum perfmance. Seed should be sound and well cured befe treatment. Refer to the label rates below. RANCONA CTS must be diluted with water mixed with other registered seed treatment products befe use, in der to achieve good unifmity of treatment. Use a total slurry application volume of 3 to 6 fl. oz. per 100 lb. of seed. The actual slurry volume will depend on the type of treater, other seed treatment products that are used in combination, and/ seed and facility temperatures. Mix RANCONA CTS and water other seed treatment products thoughly into a slurry befe treating seed. Recalibrate treating equipment to apply the targeted slurry volume, taking into account the total treatment and dilution water volumes. Contact your local Chemtura representative supplier f specific recommendations. Equipment Cleaning: Following applications, thoughly rinse seed treatment equipment with water. Do not contaminate water by disposal of equipment washwater rinsate. 5 TREATED SEED LABELING Seeds treated with this product that are then packaged bagged f future use must contain the following labeling on the outside of the seed package bag: This package bag contains seed which has been treated with ipconazole and metalaxyl. Do not use f food, feed oil purposes. Ste away from feeds and foodstuffs. Persons open ing this bag package loading/pouring the treated seed must wear a long-sleeved shirt; long pants; chemical resistant gloves such as barrier laminate, butyl rubber, neoprene Viton; shoes and socks. After seeds have been planted, do not enter allow wker entry into treated areas during the restricted entry interval (REI) of 24 hours. Exception: Once the seeds are planted in soil, the Wker Protection Standard, under certain circumstances, allows wkers to enter the treated area without restriction if there will be no wker contact with the soil subsurface treated seed. Do not re-use packaging from treated seed to handle food feed products. Dispose of seed packaging containers in accdance with local requirements. 6 STORAGE AND DISPOSAL Do not contaminate water, food feed by stage disposal. PESTICIDE STORAGE: Ste in iginal container only. After partial use, replace lid and close tightly. Ste in a secure place that is temperate, dry and out of direct sunlight. Avoid excess heat. Do not freeze. Always shake, stir otherwise mix this product well befe use. PESTICIDE DISPOSAL: Wastes resulting from the use of this product may be disposed of on site at an approved waste disposal facility. Cover incpate spilled treated seeds. CONTAINER DISPOSAL: Nonrefillable Container Plastic containers: Do not reuse refill this container. Triple rinse container ( equivalent) promptly after emp tying. Then offer container f recycling if available, recon ditioning if appropriate, puncture and dispose of in a sanitary landfill, by incineration, if allowed by State and local authities, by burning. If burned, stay out of smoke. Triple rinse as follows: F containers with capacity equal to less than 5 gallons: Empty the remaining contents into application equipment a mix tank and drain f 10 seconds after the flow begins to drip. Add water - at least 2% of the container volume, and up to 1/3 of the volume of water needed to make the proper slurry composition with a maximum of 1/4 of the container volume - and recap. Shake f 30 seconds. Pour rinsate into application equipment a mix tank ste rinsate f later use disposal. Drain f 10 seconds after the flow begins to drip. Repeat this procedure two me times. If used in application equipment, adjust the slurry volume application rate to account f any added rinsate water. F containers with capacities greater than 5 gallons: Triple rinse as follows: Empty the remaining contents into appli cation equipment a mix tank. Add water - at least 2% of the container volume, and up to 1/3 of the volume of water needed to make the proper slurry composition, with a maximum of 1/4 of the container volume. Replace and tighten closures. Tip container on its side and roll it back and fth, ensuring at least one complete revolution, f 60 seconds. Stand the container on its end and tip it back and fth several times. Turn the container over onto its oth er end and tip it back and fth several times. Empty the rinsate into application equipment a mix tank ste rinsate f later use disposal. Repeat this procedure two me times. If used in application equipment, adjust the slurry volume application rate to account f any added rinsate water. Refillable container Refill this container with pesticide only. Do not reuse this container f any other purpose. Cleaning the container befe final disposal is the responsibility of the person dis posing of the container. Cleaning befe refilling is the re sponsibility of the refiller. To clean the container befe final disposal, empty the remaining contents into application equipment mix tank. Add water at least 2% of the container volume, and up to 1/3 of the volume of water needed to make the proper slur ry composition, with a maximum of 10% of the container volume. Replace and tighten closure. Agitate vigously recirculate the rinsate with a pump f at least 2 minutes, ensuring that the rinsate rinses the walls of the container. Empty the rinsate into application equipment rinsate collection system, f later use disposal. Repeat this pro cedure two me times. If used in application equipment, adjust the slurry volume application rate to account f any added rinsate water. Recycling: Once cleaned, some agricultural plastic pesticide contain ers can be taken to a container collection site picked up f recycling.
