5 We are working with VTT s Fuel cell solutions team High temperature fuel cells (stationary CHP), natural gas and biogas as a fuel Low temperature fuel cells (transport, back-up, grid support applications), hydrogen as a fuel High temperature electrolysis, storage of electricity Hydrogen quality and cost reduction for transport applications Focus is moving from fuel cell technology development to fuel cell applications 5
6 Research example: Fuel cell bus Fuel cell hybridization of VTT s electric bus Replace the existing diesel generator based range extender with a commercial PEMFC system and road traffic approved high-pressure H 2 storage VTT is currently aiming to get a H 2 refilling station to Helsinki area If you are interested on fuel cell cars and busses, please contact us! 6
7 EU-funding EU/H2020 is a very good funding instrument for R&D and demonstration H2020 program s total volume 80 B, 1.3 B for fuel cells and hydrogen Good funding rates 100% of direct costs in R&D projects 70% of direct costs in demonstration projects Typical project volumes 2-30 M All partners have their own budgets, no money transfer from companies to research centres Partners from at least three countries, European value chains preferred VTT has lots of experience on H2020.
