Haga que alguien lo traduzca para usted, ó hable con alguien que lo entienda. (This report contains important information about your. Have someone translate it for you, or speak with someone who understands it.) WATER SYSTEM IFORMATIO: This report shows our quality and what it means. If you have any questions about this report or concerning your utility, please contact Fred H Wissler at We want you to be informed about your supply. If you want to learn more, please attend any our regularly scheduled meetings. They are held every second Thursday the month at 6:00pm.. SOURCE(S) OF WATER: Our source(s) is/are: (ame-type-location) The source is currently supplied by ground wells number 2, 4, and 5 located along Voganville Road, Walnut Street, and extended behind Sauder Chevrolet. A Source Water Assessment our source(s) was completed by the PA Department Environmental Protection (Pa. DEP). The Assessment has found that our source(s) is/are potentially most susceptible to [insert potential Sources listed in your Source Water Assessment Summary]. Overall, our source(s) has/have [little, moderate, high] risk significant contamination. A summary report the Assessment is available on the Source Water Assessment & Protection web page at ( Complete reports were distributed to municipalities, supplier, local planning agencies and PADEP fices. Copies the complete report are available for review at the Pa. DEP South Central Regional Office, Records Management Unit at (717) Some people may be more vulnerable to contaminants in than the general population. Immunocompromised persons such as persons with cancer undergoing chemotherapy, persons who have undergone organ transplants, people with HIV/AIDS or other immune system disorders, some elderly, and infants can be particularly at risk from infections. These people should seek advice about from their health care providers. EPA/CDC guidelines on appropriate means to lessen the risk infection by Cryptosporidium and other microbial contaminants are available from the Safe Drinking Water Hotline ( )
2 MOITORIG YOUR WATER: We routinely monitor for contaminants in your according to federal and state laws. The following tables show the results our monitoring for the period January 1 to December 31, The State allows us to monitor for some contaminants less than once per year because the concentrations these contaminants do not change frequently. Some our data is from prior years in accordance with the Safe Drinking Water Act. The date has been noted on the sampling results table. DEFIITIOS: Action Level (AL) - The concentration a contaminant which, if exceeded, triggers treatment or other requirements which a system must follow. Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) - The highest level a contaminant that is allowed in. MCLs are set as close to the MCLGs as feasible using the best available treatment technology. Maximum Contaminant Level Goal (MCLG) - The level a contaminant in below which there is no known or expected risk to health. MCLGs allow for a margin safety. Maximum Residual Disinfectant Level (MRDL) - The highest level a disinfectant allowed in. There is convincing evidence that addition a disinfectant is necessary for control microbial contaminants. Maximum Residual Disinfectant Level Goal (MRDLG) - The level a disinfectant below which there is no known or expected risk to health. MRDLGs do not reflect the benefits the use disinfectants to control microbial contaminants. Minimum Residual Disinfectant Level (MinRDL) - The minimum level residual disinfectant required at the entry point to the distribution system. Treatment Technique (TT) - A required process intended to reduce the level a contaminant in. Mrem/year = millirems per year (a measure radiation absorbed by the body) pci/l = picocuries per liter (a measure radioactivity) ppb = parts per billion, or micrograms per liter (μg/l) DETECTED SAMPLE RESULTS: Chemical Contaminants MCL in CCR Contaminant Units MCLG Level Detected Range Detections ppm = parts per million, or milligrams per liter (mg/l) ppq = parts per quadrillion, or picograms per liter ppt = parts per trillion, or nanograms per liter Units Sample Date Chlorine MG/L 06/02/15 itrate ppm 05/07/15 Y/ Sources Water additive used to control microbes Runf from fertilizer use; leaching from septic tanks, sewage; erosion natural deposits Fluoride (IOC) MG/L 05/06/15 Water additive which promotes strong teeth.

4 Fecal Coliform Bacteria or E. coli Human and animal fecal waste HEALTH EFFECTS: OTHER VIOLATIOS: We had no monitoring violations for Western Heights Water Authority had one OTICE OF VIOLATIO for control the Zone 1 area around Well #5. Corrective action was taken by installing a two (2) tiered electric fence, in place one (1) tier fence to prevent livestock from grazing within the Wellhead Protection area and approved by the PA DEP. EDUCATIOAL IFORMATIO: The sources (both tap and bottled ) include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs and wells. As travels over the surface the land or through the ground, it dissolves naturally-occurring minerals and, in some cases, radioactive material, and can pick up substances resulting from the presence animals or from human activity. Contaminants that may be present in source include: Microbial contaminants, such as viruses and bacteria, which may come from sewage treatment plants, septic systems, agricultural livestock operations, and wildlife. Inorganic contaminants, such as salts and metals, which can be naturally-occurring or result from urban storm run-f, industrial or domestic waste discharges, oil and gas production, mining, or farming. Pesticides and herbicides, which may come from a variety sources such as agriculture, urban storm runf, and residential uses. Organic chemical contaminants, including synthetic and volatile organic chemicals, which are by-products industrial processes and petroleum production, and can also come from gas stations, urban storm runf, and septic systems. Radioactive contaminants, which can be naturally-occurring or be the result oil and gas production and mining activities. In order to ensure that tap is safe to drink, EPA and DEP prescribes regulations which limit the amount certain contaminants in provided by public systems. FDA and DEP regulations establish limits for contaminants in bottled which must provide the same protection for public health. Drinking, including bottled, may reasonably be expected to contain at least small amounts some contaminants. The presence contaminants does not necessarily indicate that poses a
5 health risk. More information about contaminants and potential health effects can be obtained by calling the Environmental Protection Agency s Safe Drinking Water Hotline ( ). Information about Lead If present, elevated levels lead can cause serious health problems, especially for pregnant women and young children. Lead in is primarily from materials and components associated with service lines and home plumbing. Western Heights Water Authority is responsible for providing high quality, but cannot control the variety materials used in plumbing components. When your has been sitting for several hours, you can minimize the potential for lead exposure by flushing your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using for or cooking. If you are concerned about lead in your, you may wish to have your tested. Information on lead in, testing methods, and steps you can take to minimize exposure is available from the Safe Drinking Water Hotline or at OTHER IFORMATIO: The Western Heights Water Authority has a Wellhead Protection Plan in conjunction with East Earl Township, ew Holland Borough, and Terre Hill Borough. A copy the plan is available at the Earl Township fice and it provides more information.
