Waste to Energy Untapped Opportunity? All Energy Australia October 2015, Melbourne Kunal Kumar Business Development Manager

Quantum Power Quantum is a leader in the Australian biogas market, specialising in anaerobic digestion systems and biogas fuelled power stations. Largest biogas project portfolio in Australia The only Australian company to have delivered projects spanning: Rendering Abattoir Pig production Layer chickens Dairy processing Full service provider: Anaerobic digester design Biogas handling & refining Internationally recognised power generation brands Grid interconnection Remote monitoring, diagnostics and operation 2

Parent Entity - Geodynamics Quantum Power was recently acquired by Geodynamics Limited - a technology developer with a proven track record of commercialisation and delivery of technically challenging projects backed by sound financing ability. Geodynamics Background: Successful progression of technology from concept to commercial demonstration phase Focus on delivery and execution of technical and operationally challenging projects Strengths in Energy markets; Power Purchase Agreements, off-take agreements, development agreements and project consent Project management; engineering, community engagement, and contractor management and execution expertise Strong financing and commercial skills - experience in equity markets, grant funding and joint venture partnerships Established Corporate Structure and qualified personnel to build required governance and investment management capabilities required for a diversified clean energy company. 3

Biogas Production Biogas is a renewable energy source produced from available organic raw materials and recycled waste. Key benefits include: Cost reduction in: Electricity Heating Waste treatment Waste disposal Revenue from: LGC s Carbon Credits Excess power sale Recovered nutrient sales Environmental benefits, reduction in: Greenhouse gas emissions Harmful pollutants Odours 4

Diverse Value Streams Biogas projects involve the conversion of waste into valuable products. Energy Nutrients Waste reduction Ammonium Sulphate 5

Biogas Potential Waste Streams Anaerobic digestion can use a wide variety of feed waste streams. Projects utilising raw materials such as agricultural waste, manure, municipal waste, plant material, sewage, green waste or food waste have all been successfully implements. 1 m³ of biogas equals l diesel fuel 6 kwh 22 MJ 2.14 kwh 35% conversion efficiency

Co-digestion Through the aggregation of multiple waste streams and centralised processing and digestion a mutually beneficial project can be developed whereby all contributing parts and the wider community stand to benefit. Benefits of Co-digestion Improved overall process economics (higher biogas production, tipping fees, renewable credits) GHG emissions reductions Improved fertilizer value of the digestate Synergistic effects leading to improved carbon to nitrogen (C/N) ratio, nutrient balances, and other parameters Operating an anaerobic system ensures 99.99% pathogen free coproducts

Case Study Heartland Co-digestion Facility Located in Weld County, Colorado, USA the facility uses a mixture of cow manure from local dairies and organic waste from restaurant grease trap waste, spoiled grocery store products, food process residuals, to produce enough biogas to generate 40 megawatts of energy. Inputs: Dairy cow manure 431,500 L/ day from adjacent Dairy Substrate (all organic) 757,000 L/ day comprised of Denver metro food waste, grease trap waste, meat packaging plant and other organic waste including DAF and organic sludge, off-spec food, low solids (liquid) food waste Recycle effluent: 624,592 L/ day Fresh water use: 185,000 L/ day Output per day: 7,383 GJ renewable natural biogas ~42 MW power equivalent (Electricity enough to power ~35,000 homes ) 535m3 of compost 821,434 L/day of high Nitrogen soil conditioner

Considerations for Feasible Project 1. Feedstocks availability 2. Types Volumes, consistency, landfill diversion (transport) Energy Usage Electricity usage, load profile, grid connection, export Gas usage, gas upgrading and compression 3. Available Footprint 4. Planning & Design 5. Approvals 9

Untapped Opportunity Quantum Power together with the engineering and project management experience of Geodynamics, is seeking to explore opportunities in Australia where water treatment, municipal organic waste and other potential substrates can be combined for a co-digestion project. 10
