6 Our technologies Partner of your projects Aerobic and Chemical-Physical plants Thanks to its in depth knowledge of the different production cycles of the food and beverage industry, VWS Italia has extensive experience in the design and installation of turnkey plants for wastewater treatment. The numerous references in this important market and the studies about its volumes and typologies requirements have widened the VWS capacity to offer plant engineering technologies which range from traditional to most modern and innovative applications that are able to achieve treatment yields close to 98%. The ease of management and the lay-out of the plants, designed according to Clients needs, together with the target to supply excellent solutions from a technical, operational and economic point of view, make VWS Italia plants the best wastewater treatment systems for the food and beverage sector. Anaerobic plants (BIOGAS) VWS Italia anaerobic plants for the production of biogas from biomasses have been developed utilising the best available technologies according to requirements such as yield, operational continuity and reliability. Anaerobic plants specifics concern: the high biomasses mixing; the reactors volumetric ratios (diameter and height) to facilitate mixing and to avoid segregation, stratification and solids aggregation phenomena; the increase in the anaerobic sludge residence time compared to the hydraulic residence time; the external management, easy to maintain, of all the equipments; the use of gasometers to assure the adequate biogas quantity at constant pressure; a strong hydrolysis phase before the anaerobic digestion aimed at making the biomasses more degradable.

7 EVALED Evaporation technologies Evaporators for industrial waste and process water treatment, with capacity up to 250 tons of distillate/24h. Totally computer-based for a continuous running without supervision, the EVALED allow rather high concentration ratios, good separation levels as well as the recycling and the reduction of the volumes to dispose. Depending on the production process, in some case, the concentrate obtained from the superconcentration steps can be reused in agriculture and zootechny. EVALED are available in three different series using three different technologies: EVALED PC Heat pump vacuum evaporators EVALED AC Hot/cold water vacuum evaporators EVALED RV Forced circulation MVR evaporators IDRAFLOT Flotation technologies Dissolved air flotation units for solid/liquid separation, highly efficient and able to assure an optimum and uniform air/water mixing along the whole surface of the unit. IDRAFLOT flotation units surpass the traditional DAF systems achieving such a clarification and thickening ratio which can be defined as ultraflotation, with a considerable removal efficiency in COD, suspended solids and fats. Their modular and compact structure assures the flexibility required to face seasonal production peaks.

8 Our technologies Partner of your projects IDRASCREEN Screening technologies High efficiency compact fine screening units for process and wastewater pre-treatment, are also designed for direct installation on channel, equipped with a self-cleaning device to avoid those clogging problems that usually cause frequent maintenance interventions and high managing costs. The hundreds of references in the food and beverage sector demonstrate the efficiency and the effectiveness of this technology which allows the recycling of the treated water into the production process (as conveyance water, etc.) ZEO-GEL and P.R.F.V. covers Deodorizing technologies Fully ecologic modular odour control plants, equipped with a filter which, thanks to Zeolite and a special gel (Idragel), captures and neutralizes malodorous molecules of various origin. The out-coming air is completely purified and odour-free, perfectly complying with the European regulations and fully respecting the surrounding environment. Fiber glass reinforced polyester covers, particularly resistant to internal corrosion and atmospheric agents. Flat or convex-shaped and installable in circular or rectangular basins, the PRFV covers are extremely suitable for the food and beverage industry water treatment plants. Actiflo Clarification technology Highly efficient and compact process and wastewater clarification plants where, thanks to the mixing with Actisand micro sand, the waste flocculation is boosted and, consequently, the suspended particles decantation.

9 Hydrotech Discfilter Microfiltration technologies Microfilter used for solids removal and dissolved substances recovery. This plant is particularly suitable when a wide filtration area is required in small spaces, thanks to the limited surface it takes up. The compact design allows to triple the filtration area in comparison with membrane filters of the same dimensions. Biosep Membrane bioreactors Biosep is the innovative solution which allows high performances thanks to the combination of two solid and reliable technologies: the aerobic-biologic treatment and the immersed membrane filtration. With a compact design and easy to use, Biosep produces quality water that can be recycled into the production process. AnoxKaldnes MBBR Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor The AnoxKaldnes MBBR technology is based on the biofilm principle with an active biofilm growing on small specially designed plastic carriers that are kept suspended in the reactor. The technology utilizes the advantages of both activated sludge and other biofilm systems (e.g. biofilters, biorotors etc.) without being restrained by their disadvantages. The carriers are designed to provide a large protected surface area for the biofilm and optimal conditions for the bacteria culture when the carriers are suspended in water. The AnoxKaldnes MBBR is particularly suitable to implement the post-treatment of existing plants in order to obtain process improvements without intervening on brickworks. POLARIS CSG, NEXUS and QUATTRO Pure water and vapour technologies Standardized and versatile, compact and flexible design solutions. Created for the pharmaceutical sector, and then designed, produced and validated according to the most stringent regulations concerning hygiene and safety, they perfectly apply to the food and beverage industry as well, for instance in the production of quality process water and cooking pure vapour.
