The Colombian Geothermal Association (AGEOCOL by its acronym in Spanish) proudly invites you to participate in the 3rd Colombian National Geothermal Meeting (RENAG 18), to be held in Bogotá in December Photo: The National Geothermal Meeting (RENAG) 2017, Manizales, Colombia. The National Geothermal Meeting (RENAG) is an annual event brought by AGEOCOL for the strengthening of geothermal knowledge in Colombia. Its objectives converge to integrate the industry, academia and government in a single space, in order to identify strategies, needs and challenges that promote the development of geothermal energy in Colombia. The 1st RENAG meeting was held in Bogotá in 2016, with special spotlight on the state of the art of geothermal energy in Colombia. RENAG17 was held in the city of Manizales, contextualizing the global panorama of geothermal energy, with the participation of experts from countries such as Iceland, El Salvador, Chile, Mexico, New Zealand and Kenya. This year, RENAG18 will be held again in the city of Bogotá from 11 th to 15 th of December, under the slogan BRINGING TOGETHER GOVERNMENT, INDUSTRY AND ACADEMY TO DEFINE 2030 ROAD MAP FOR GEOTHERMAL DEVELOPMENT IN COLOMBIA 2

TECHNICAL AGENDA The event is divided into three parts, lasting 5 days. Short Courses: 11th and 12th December Main Event: 13th and 14th December Field Trip: 15th December SHORT COURSES Two courses will be taught before the main event with the participation of international experts, each course lasting one day. Location: TBD Date: 11 th -12 th December 2018 Contribution: TBD Topics: Fluid Inclusions / Diffuse Gases Instructor: TBD (LaGeo-El Salvador) Taught in Spanish Geomechanics applied to the exploration of geothermal resources Instructor: TBD- Carlo Dietl (Gesteinslabor Dr. Eberhard Jahns, Germany) Taught in English 5

MAIN EVENT The work methodology chosen by RENAG answers to the values of participation, debate and effective conclusion of proposed topics. Each of RENAG participants plays an active role within RENAG and thus we make this space inclusive, dynamic and participatory. This is the ideal scenario to positively share projects status, advances and challenges related to the development of geothermal energy in Colombia. Location: TBD Date: 13th-14th December 2018 Contribution: AGEOCOL student members: $ 70,000 COP Non-member students: $ 120,000 COP AGECOL Professional members: $ 220,000 COP Professionals Non-members: $ 320,000 COP Registration to the event Go to and fill out the registration form. Acceptance of memberships to access prices as a member of AGEOCOL until September 30, The event will have three stages 1. Presentations 2. Discussion Panels 3. Working tables Presentation: The topics to be discussed were chosen upon the challenges, opportunities and solution proposals that the Colombian government must address, based on energy demand, environmental protection and research requirements. Interested in participating as speakers, please refer to the Extended Summary section. Interested participants are encouraged to take the following 5 topics into account for their presentations and summaries. 6

RENAG18 TOPICS OF DISCUSSION 1. GEOTHERMAL AS BASELOAD RENEWABLE IN THE COLOMBIAN ENERGY MATRIX, ROAD MAP Colombian Energy Matrix Current overview of the direct uses of geothermal energy in Colombia and future possibilities Colombian Regulatory Framework. What we have and what is needed? How to succeed on geothermal power plant development in Colombia. Success stories Geothermal plants in South America. Will we need a National Geothermal Agency for power generation projects? 1.4. Challenges of Geothermal Energy in the National Energy Market. How can geothermal compete with the prices of solar, wind and natural gas? What are the main challenges? 1.5. Examples of the Geothermal Master Plan of Nicaragua and Peru Geothermal laws Mexico and Chile. Working Table: Geothermal Master Plan in Colombia - Roadmap

2. FUNDING SUPPORT AND MULTILATERAL BANKING 2.1. International funds - JICA, GDF LAC, KFW, IADB. What kind of projects can apply to these international funds? What projects have been financed in Latin America and what have been the results? 2.2. Support in development of geothermal projects: study cases in Ecuador y Bolivia Financial evaluation of Geothermal projects. Working Table: Future calls and strategic alliances. 3. ROLE OF COMMUNITIES Challenges in exploration /exploitation projects. Are communities aware of the real benefits of direct use of geothermal energy? To what environmental aspects do the communities fear? Do they apply for geothermal energy? 3.2. Examples of Chile in the implementation of prior consultations with the communities. Working Table: How to socialize and involve communities in geothermal projects of direct uses and high enthalpy? Mechanisms and lessons learned from the oil industry and mining in Colombia and Chile. 9

4. SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY 4.1. Exploration and geothermal research in national territory Applied technologies. What do we know about our geothermal systems? 4.2. New technologies What are the technological advances at a global level applicable to the exploration and / or production of geothermal energy? 4.3. What information and technologies we can inherit from the oil and mining industries. Working Table: Inventory of available institutions and technologies in Colombia for the development of geothermal energy. 5. HUMAN TALENT AND TRAINING 5.1. Institutional strategies and educational centers for the training of specialized personal. Are there trained professionals in Colombia for the development of geothermal energy? Which strategies can be implemented to contribute to the academic training of our professionals? What are the worldwide academic offers for geothermal training? How can we apply? What sources of funding are out there? Working Table: Development of geothermal knowledge in higher education. 10

WORKING TABLES Working Tables: The working tables are conceived as a space for the exchange of experiences on particular topics for the joint construction of proposals and recommendations that contribute to strengthening geothermal energy in Colombia. Any person registered in the RENAG18 who is interested in the topics proposed may participate in these discussion tables. Registration for working tables will take place on the same day of the main event (limited number of participants per table). SALIDA DE CAMPO Discussion Panels: At the end of each session there will be a discussion panel moderated by an expert, who will present prepared questions and will moderate doubts and questions brought by the audience to panelists. 13 FIELD TRIP A field trip to the municipality of Paipa, in the Colombia department of Boyacá, will take place on the 15th December. It consists of a tour around this beautiful geothermal system, where participants will be able to visit its recharge zone, the main geological structures, discharge areas, etc.. The trip will be led by the Geothermal Resources Research and Exploration Group of the Colombian Geological Service SGC. The trip will have a duration of one day, starting at 6 am from Bogotá and returning in the evening hours to the same place of departure. Contribution: TBD Photo Pozo Azul.
