10 PROJECT OVERVIEW FVCSP will be used to guide future development within the existing office, commercial, and industrial park. EIR studied a net increase of 258,000 Square Feet and approximately 491 new residential units over the existing/approved 3.1 Million Sq. Ft. 162 Acres of Land Approximately 101 Parcels FVCSP will address the type, location, intensity and design of future buildings. FVCSP will include transportation and infrastructure improvements. 10

12 CEQA OVERVIEW The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) is the State s primary environmental protection law. CEQA requires that public agencies disclose environmental impacts of projects that have a physical effect on the environment. 12

13 WHAT IS AN EIR? An informational document Discloses information about the effects a proposed project could have on the environment Identifies mitigation measures Describes feasible alternatives to the proposed project Must be certified prior to project approval 13

14 WHAT IS AN EIR? An EIR does not approve or deny a project Decision makers can deny/modify a project, even if no impacts are found Where significant environmental impacts are identified in EIR, mitigation measures must be considered as part of project action to avoid or reduce impacts 14

15 THE EIR PROCESS This chart describes the EIR process mandated by State law. In addition to this schedule, City will provide opportunities for public to provide input on project itself. = Current phase 15

16 EIR SCOPE The EIR considers the potential physical impacts of the following actions: 1. Adoption of the Fountain Valley Crossings Specific Plan, including: a. Land use changes and public improvements b. Development occurring over the life of the Fountain Valley Crossings Specific Plan 16
