2 PARTNERSHIP VISION A major participation of the renewable energy resources in satisfying the energy needs of Central America, contributing to the regional sustainable development and the mitigation of global climate change

3 BACKGROUND Launched in the WSSD, Johannesburg 2002 Partnership involving public and private stakeholders Seed money provided by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland in coordination with CCAD and SICA Joint effort of the Ministries of Environment and Energy of Central America with Finnish Government Other Partners: 30 European and 30 Central American companies and institutions

4 OBJECTIVES to promote the use of renewable energy sources and clean technologies to make energy services more accessible to the poor to combat climate change THROUGH: Demonstrative projects Legal and institutional barriers removal Renewable energy market development Capacity building and training (including CDM)
