1 Lane Channel (OCFCD Facility. F08) from Lead Agency: Agency: Project Director: Address: Orange County, Public Works, Infrastructure Programs, Capital Programs Sam Ali 300 N. Flower Street Santa Ana Phone: Cell Phone: General Project Information: Name: Description: Goals/Objectives: Need: Lane Channel (OCFCD Facility. F08) from Confluence with F05 channel to Von Karman. This channel has severely eroded over the years, originally constructed as a trapezoidal earth channel this segment has eroded immensely and with each storm the channel sides have widened. The maintenance roadway may slip with the next storm endangering adjacent office buildings and freeway off-ramp to John Wayne Airport. This section of the project is currently in the design process and may be designed as a vertical wall softbottom channel with base width of 84 feet and 19 feet high. A geotechnical report, in process will direct the design as recommended. The length is approximately 4,854 linear feet To increase the level of flood protection for the residents and businesses within the F08 flood plain by reducing or eliminating potential for personal injury and property damage due to flooding. Improve this reach of the flood control channel to be able to properly convey the 100-year storm design discharge and stop sediment from eroded channel slopes entering into San Diego Creek Channel. Utilize a flood control improvement alternative that fits within the existing right-of-way constraints. Prioritize phasing of the construction of the proposed channel improvements to maximize benefits for the watershed. The existing channel has eroded severely over the years and poses a danger to adjacent office buildings, freeway and main off ramp to John Wayne Airport. Meets statutory eligibility gates of 2015 IRWM Grant Funding: 1 of 5
