Name: Enhancement of Environmental Data Management and Analysis for Coalfired and Combined Cycle Power Station in Hong Kong High accuracy and integrity of environmental data for both internal and external reporting are required and expected by the government and our stakeholders Environmental data management, in particular emission data, is vital and critical to demonstrate compliance and for communication and internal analysis To review the current management processes of environmental data To provide recommendations and action plan for enhancement of environmental data management and emission inventory which includes all reported emissions data and the results of all emission tests To provide analysis of key emission-related data in order to support decision-making process Results of data analysis - An enhanced emission inventory for all reported emission data and result of emission tests in which making further analysis easier, more robust and user-friendly Recommendation / action plan for (1) process enhancement and (2) possible linkage/integration with other system information which gives better intelligence for performance monitoring Green Card Holder Microsoft Office Application Experience on VBA programming, statistical tools, data analysis or database management would be an advantage Selected intern will learn: To quantify and manage emissions data of power stations The environmental monitoring programme of power stations To work in an organization like CLP and understand the operation of power stations & implementation of an ISO Environmental Management System

Name: Review the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory and ISO implementation for power stations in CLPP Objective: CLP published its Climate Vision 2050 to set out a clear strategy in order to reduce the carbon intensity. It is essential to monitor GHGs and report GHGs both internally and externally. To review the completeness of the GHG inventory in CLPP s power stations according to ISO To review the materiality of different sources of GHG emission in the inventory for reporting To enhance the process / methodologies for the GHG emission calculation To review the latest reporting requirements and trends for reporting GHGs and To define scope 3 GHG for CLPP s power stations and review the feasibility to extend the reporting to cover scope 3 GHGs An enhancement in the workflow and the calculation worksheet to enhance the data accuracy and improve the effectiveness for data preparation Recommendation / suggestion for the process enhancement Gap analysis of scope 3 GHG reporting based on current status Proposal to define and report scope 3 GHG Green Card Holder Microsoft Office Application Experience on VBA programming, statistical tools, data analysis or database management would be an advantage Selected intern will learn: To quantify and manage the GHG emissions of power stations under the Environmental Management System. Name: Review and streamline environmental data capturing and reporting process Review existing process to seek continuous improvement Streamline existing process and ensure data accuracy Nurture student with potential to contribute in CLP Power upon graduation, particularly in SHEQ field Being a corporation that values the environment, CLP captures and reports environment data for sustainability report and benchmarking. All data from different assets are input to Group Operations Information System to consolidate the report. In Power Systems Business Group, the data reported by line departments are captured in Microsoft Excel workbooks for calculation. With the expansion of data assurance coverage, the current reporting mechanism has to be streamlined and enriched to ensure data integrity and correctness. Define the process for environmental data capturing and reporting process within Power Systems Business Group Refine the reporting Excel Table with built-in Macros to fit Group Operations Information System Communication arranged to internal stakeholders Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, in particular Microsoft Excel with VBA and Macros Proficiency in Chinese and English, in both verbal and written form Coordination and cooperation with internal stakeholders in terms of environmental data capturing and reporting. Effective implementation of data reporting mechanism and arrangement within a large corporation.

Name: Study of Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) Water Management Approach in Thermal Power Plants Understand the definition of Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) and the associated water management system implemented and operated in the power plants globally through desktop review and discussion with Group Environment Review the latest international legislation and the best available technology about ZLD related to coal-fired and combined cycle power plants with sea water for cooling Study the application of ZLD water management system and technologies in the CLPP s Hong Kong Power Stations Water is crucial component in thermal power plants and is used for many processes. Some wastewater will then be generated after various generation processes. Noting that the discharge limits will be more stringent and there is a need for continual improvement on water-use efficiency, minimise consumption water and discharge through wastewater treatment, reuse, and minimise leakage become critical for power plant operation. From this project, it is needed to study the ZLD management system and assess how to be applied in Castle Peak Power Station (CPPS) and Black Point Power Station (BPPS). It is expected to establish water conservation parameters, set up some water conservation monitoring programmes and identify the opportunities for water saving /recycling for CPPS and BPPS. The deliverables would include a report to summarize the findings from the study including benchmark of worldwide best practices and technologies Recommendations / suggestions for strengthening water conservation and performance monitoring in CLPP s power plants in H.K.

Name: HK Offshore LNG Terminal and Renewable Energy s Development Support development of the HK Offshore LNG Terminal. Support development of renewable energy projects of CLP Power. Support gas knowledge management within Commercial Group. Support execution of Safety, Health and Environment initiatives in Commercial Group. Provide environmental and other technical supports to facilitate preparation of the EIA Report for application of the Environmental Permit for the HK Offshore LNG Terminal. Provide environmental and other technical supports to facilitate execution of the HK Offshore Windfarm and WENT LFG Utilization. Conduct research on the latest gas technology and market development to facilitate preparation of the Quarterly Gas Market Intelligence Report. Develop, coordinate and promote SHE programs to arouse SHE awareness amongst Commercial Group staff. EIA Report of the HK Offshore LNG Terminal is timely completed for application of the Environmental Permit. Adequate technical supports are provided to the HK Offshore Windfarm and WENT LFG Utilization. Gas knowledge is properly captured for effective sharing. Continuous improvement on SHR awareness and performance is achieved. Good knowledge in HK EIA process and requirements. Sound engineering basics and practices.
