6 Introduction Antofagasta Minerals Antofagasta Minerals is Chile's largest non-state owned mining group and one of the ten largest copper producers in the world. Its vision is to be recognized as an international mining company, focused on copper and related by-products, with a focus on operational efficiency, value creation, high profitability and as a preferred partner in the global mining industry. 12 Automation and Robotics Antofagasta Minerals seeks to introduce automation and robotics mainly in those tasks that are repetitive and pose greater health risk, in order to avoid injury, ensure operational continuity and increase productivity. Metallurgical processes, especially in concentrator plants, have a higher level of advanced control and automation than mine extraction and maintenance processes. Desafíos 2018 / Página 11/

15 Desafío MANAGEMENT INVOLVED : Maintenance Desafíos 2018 / Página 14/ BACKGROUND INFORMATION - PREVIOUS SOLUTION EFFORTS: Currently, the technology used for vital signs in most of the equipment is the one incorporated from the factory. If not, some manual inspection equipment is used depending on the variable to be controlled (thermographies, RX, vibrations, etc.), which generates disaggregated information for decision making. From the management point of view, a strategy is being developed to move from corrective methods to preventive and predictive ones. SCOPE OF THE CHALLENGE: All the equipment of the production process. SAG priority, primary crusher and mine mobile equipment. Data analysis and system integration. Integration with production and supply areas. Use of technologies such as Big Data, digitization, automation and robotics. EXPECTED BENEFITS: Increase equipment availability. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: Availability of equipment [%] Non-scheduled shutdowns [#] or [Hours] EEXTRACTION OF MINERALS AREA OF INTEREST: Automation and Robotics CHALLENGE DESCRIPTION: The aim is to establish predictive maintenance models based on integrated data from vital signs of mine and plant equipment, in order to plan their maintenance in a more efficient way. Mainly, new technologies are being sought to allow for early diagnosis of possible faults, in order to increase reliability and ensure equipment high performance. Also, solutions of interest are those that support coordination with the supply area to ensure the availability of spare parts. Maintenance and monitoring of conditions (e.g.: sampling). Consider from the modification of processes and safety practices to the automation and robotics of processes, among others. BACKGROUND INFORMATION - PREVIOUS SOLUTION EFFORTS: There are some initiatives already under development that have the same objective as: real-time mineral characterization with the use of robotics, which replaces manual sampling; study of the change of SAG mill linings with robotic techniques at Minera Los Pelambres, inspection of structures with submersible robotic techniques at Puerto Chungo and the use of drones in topographic control at Minera Los Pelambres and Centinela. Additionally, these tasks imply a high cost due to the mass participation of people and the long time required to be completed, which does not necessarily ensure the quality of their execution. Currently, there is a low level of automation and robotics in the mine activities, as these are complex tasks and noncontinuous processes. The main focuses of automation, robotics and remote operation are the processes of: drilling and blasting, loading and transport, movement of material in stockpile with bulldozers, drilling of pre-cut near the rock mass, among others. EXTRACTION OF MINERALS AREA OF INTEREST: Automation and Robotics CHALLENGE DESCRIPTION: Currently, drilling campaigns tend to be long lasting, with high investment, high risk exposure and low certainty of success. From this challenge, the implementation of new technologies and techniques is expected to optimize the process and reduce the duration of the drilling campaigns. Solutions such as directional or continuous drilling are being considered and the environmental impact of this process is expected to be minimized. Integration of rock mass characteristics into the drilling and blasting planning process. BACKGROUND INFORMATION - PREVIOUS SOLUTION EFFORTS: The technological status of Antofagasta Minerals for this challenge includes the use of Vulcan for 3D-4D modeling, Traditional Labs for characterization and BlastPlan & BlastLogic for Blasting. Los Pelambres is planned to implement an automated pilot on small diameter drills. EXPECTED BENEFITS: Improve the planning of the drilling process. Optimize granulometry. Optimize explosive consumption. Minimize impact to the rock mass. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: Granulometry [mm] Compliance with drilling plan (%). EXTRACTION OF MINERALS AREA OF INTEREST: Automation and Robotics CHALLENGE DESCRIPTION: This challenge includes ensuring compliance with the drilling plan through more effective monitoring and control of the process, in terms of time, team coordination, integration of geotechnical/geological variables and operational conditions (e.g., material quantity being blasted on the loading front). It is expected to achieve an optimum ratio between the consumption of explosives, granulometry, material blasted on the front and damage to the rock mass, optimally planning the drilling and blasting processes, ideally integrating all the information from the mass and the variables that affect the desired result. Consider from the modification of processes and safety practices to the automation and robotics of processes, among others. BACKGROUND INFORMATION - PREVIOUS SOLUTION EFFORTS: There is an initiative to implement remote operation of small diameter drills. In addition, blasting options using robotic techniques are being studied. EXPECTED BENEFITS: Reduce incidents or accidents related to rockfall and land failure. Decrease the risk exposure of workers. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: Safety incidents due to rockfall [#] Operation stopped due to incidents [#] or [Hours] EXTRACTION OF MINERALS AREA OF INTEREST: Automation and Robotics CHALLENGE DESCRIPTION: One of the main risks to workers inside the mine is rockfall during activities in the vicinity of the rock mass, a situation that could result in a fatal accident. As an example, geological tasks, topographical control or drilling activities are included. This problem is particularly important in small diameter drilling, as the equipment works near the slope and in the mine bank area. BACKGROUND INFORMATION - PREVIOUS SOLUTION EFFORTS: Robots have been used that can inspect the pipelines internally, but they have the limitation that this must be done without fluid inside. Mostly this monitoring is done visually. The pipelines have pressure measurement, but this variable does not allow predicting events, but detecting them when they have already occurred. EXPECTED BENEFITS: Avoid spills. Reduce monitoring costs. Reduce exposure to risk. Monitoring should predict a condition that requires maintenance and/or detect potential ruptures, which can lead to critical fluid spills, such as concentrate or tailings. Control of own personnel and contractors, also considering vehicles, equipment, transport buses and tools, among others. Implementation of new technologies, connectivity, the Internet of things (IoT) and real-time information. BACKGROUND INFORMATION - PREVIOUS SOLUTION EFFORTS: There is an initiative to test a system for controlling personnel in the jobsite (census by area). EXPECTED BENEFITS: Reduce health and safety incidents. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: Workers' safety incidents [#] EXTRACTION OF MINERALS AREA OF INTEREST: Automation and Robotics CHALLENGE DESCRIPTION: This challenge seeks to be clear about the location of workers in real time in case of an emergency and to alert in case of unauthorized entrance into critical areas. Proposals are expected for technologies that allow, for example, georeferencing all workers and facilitating the coordination of actions in case of emergencies, such as fires, earthquakes and the release of harmful gases, among others. In addition, it is expected to have better access control for own personnel and contractors in the areas of greater risk at the jobsites (powder magazines, electrical rooms, warehouse of dangerous substances, etc.), to prevent accidents, damage and thefts. 23 Processing of Low Grade Minerals The constant decrease in mineral grades over time has challenged the industry, which has been forced to optimize its processes, which are increasingly complex and require high volumes of material to be processed to maintain plant productivity. Antofagasta Minerals has identified this problem and is looking for new technologies and methods that allow the processing of low grade primary sulfide ores. Desafíos 2018 / Página 22/

Analysis and management of currently available data and solutions for capturing other variables on-line. BACKGROUND INFORMATION - PREVIOUS SOLUTION EFFORTS: A project is in progress that expects to measure the ph of the ore online to adjust the operating parameters in the flotation. Metso's SmartTag Ore Tracking technology is being tested at Minera Centinela. In addition, there are some technologies being studied for online sampling and analysis. EXPECTED BENEFITS: Optimize costs by defining parameters and use of agents at each stage. Increase Production. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: Acid consumption [Lts] Consumption of flocculant [Lts] Energy consumption in the comminution process [kw/h] HYDROMETALLURGY CHALLENGE DESCRIPTION: The possibility of obtaining information on the ore in process at different points along the value chain would allow an online adjustment of optimum parameters for each type of material, based on its grade, hardness and other conditions. For example, having online ore characterization entering from the mine to the Crushing stage could make ore processing of both sulfide and oxide lines more efficient. 26 Desafío CHALLENGE DESCRIPTION: There is an opportunity, in mining operations with more than one processing method (hydrometallurgy, concentrator, ROM), to improve the pre-selection of the ore allocated to each one making it more efficient. In addition, pre-selection techniques can be applied to preconcentrate the ore, improving the quality of the ore being sent for processing (grade, hardness, or other relevant variables), making the use of installed capacity more efficient. 27 Movement of Large Volumes of Material Mineral grades in exploited deposits have been declining over time, which has forced companies to extract large volumes of minerals to maintain the levels of fine production generating impacts to the productive cycle as well as to the environment and communities. In addition, the existence of satellite mineral deposits (Minera Antucoya and Minera Centinela) and the idle capacity of the plant, motivate the search for increasingly economic alternatives for transporting ore, which allow for making mass operations in low grade ore movement sustainable and competitive. Mine equipment condition monitoring. BACKGROUND INFORMATION - PREVIOUS SOLUTION EFFORTS: Today, dispatch systems with dynamic truck allocation are used, but their use is not optimum: FMS (Dispatch & Jisgaw) for Dispatch, JPS and MS Excel. Currently there are sensors on shovels and trucks (weight meters). EXPECTED BENEFITS: Reduce cycle times. Increase performance. Increase the lifespan of trucks and some of their components. Maximize truck fleet use and capacity and reduce maintenance costs.
