11 Sustainable Water Usage 95% of the water we take in comes out as waste water Commonly infrastructure sewers collect both rain water and sewage at historic sites where this then went straight into rivers or the sea 10 of 11 sewage works built there later now discharge various quality effluents through dilution and dispersal outfalls into rivers or the sea If instead we clean our waste water locally after use return it to nature locally or reuse it We may get 10 or 20 times more economic or domestic use from the same net volume of water extracted from the environment
