They done a geological survey of whole Khorichapada village but in vain did not found any ground water sources near village. After study of the village water source The TCE decided to make a roof water harvesting project. The TCE prepared a Design and estimate of roof water harvesting project 2) Awareness activity: - The project approved as per the criteria of people participation. Therefore it is necessary to aware the villager about the project. The NARAD periodically arranged meeting of villagers and aware them about the project. Also the team of TCE was participated in one meeting to learn people about TCE and NARAD. Village water Management committee formed and trained them the about repair and maintenance of the project. Also people agree to contribute work donation to

9 CSR Talyachapada Project The Talyachapada village is adopted by Sabic Innovative Plastic Ltd under their CSR program for total development. The Sabic appointed to National Rural Research and Development Association (NARAD) as implementing Organisation. The activity includes Water, Environment, Health and hygiene, Education and women s empowerment. Even though talyacapada village near for Jawhar, however is certainly away from development. When the volunteers/worker of NARAD were visited this village then the situation very bad, everywhere was dirty place, People were not cleaning their yard because they were spent their much time to bring drinking water from well which is 1.5 K.M. This well is not only long distance but also it is in the valley. So they had to take a lot of effort to bring water. The lack of awareness and education the people were unknown how to deal with guest visited in their village. Awareness Generation Activity: - The "National Rural Research and Development Association" had Started awareness among people by arranging periodically villagers meeting. Through this meeting, the NARAD's workers teach them about sanitation and hygiene. Established a village development committee of villager. Also people has been fixed a day for cleaning of whole village in a week and daily cleaning of individual surrounding of houses. Drinking Water Project: - The CSR Talyachapada Project is initiated by NARAD NGO at Talyachapad Village with the Support of "Sabic Innovative Plastic Ltd" It is 12 KM away from Jawhar Block and situated on top of the hill; The people were facing water scarcity during summer. Also walking about 1.5 KM distance daily to fetching water.the NARAD made survey and searched water source near village and drilled up to 500 ft.and found sufficient water. The solar pump system installed for lifting water to village. Now people are getting enough and pure drinking water in village. The people are very happy with this water project.

10 En-light a Girl Child Project En-Light a Girl Child Project have been implementing in Jawhar Block of Thane District targeting 5000 girl child learning in 6 th to 12 class. It included Zilha Parishad School, High school and selected Ashram school. In This Program the NARAD is working as ground Partner of SouLAce Consulting Pvt Ltd Kolkata and Eveready is donor partner. "En-Light a Girl Child" is a unique sustainable initiative towards addressing two crucial issues, one of perennial darkness in the rural households and the other of Girl Child Empowerment."En-Light a Girl Child" aims at empowering Girl Children in backward power deficient regions by creating positive discrimination for girl child, replacing their only source of lighting i.e. kerosene lamp with bright LED Lights for promoting education. En-Light a Girl Child would provides LED Light to a girl child studying in government schools in classes 6-12 in power deficient regions. En-Light a Girl Child creates awareness about Girl Child Rights, Constitutional Acts and Central & State Government schemes for girl children through a booklet on Girl Child Rights. En-Light a Girl Child holds a pledge at the school & community level to protect the rights of the girl child. Targeting Girl children studying in class 6-12 the reason for targeting girls studying in 6-12 grades is the fact that this is the age in which they can communicate and influence the use of the light provided to them and also utilize the facility by replacing the batteries on a monthly basis. This is also the stage in girl children s lives when they are more burdened with their domestic duties and need the lighting resource to choose to study in their free time. The fact that their need to study at any time in the evening or night is given importance acts as a great enabler. They can take decisions on when they want to use it and how.

11 Tree Plantation Project From last six year the NARAD initiated tree plantation campaign in Jawhar block of Thane District. The campaign got huge response from beneficiary farmer. Total trees are planted on farmer s waste land so far. 40 farmers were changed their lives by planting tree on their waste land. In Jawhar block farmer having own land but very few land used for agriculture cultivation and depending upon only on rainy season. They used few land for agriculture purpose because mostly is a upland.hence farmer obtain very few income from agriculture so they migrate toward urban area with family to getting more income.therefore NARAD initiated this campaign. Donor supported this campaign so far parale Product, ICICI Prulife, MTV, Vodafone, UPS Foundation and Arborday Foundation There is much waste land in Jawhar Block with farmer. But the farmer does not utilize this land for any crop due to low fertile quality of soil. Mostly waste land is upland and leave for growing of grass only. The farmer has no Idea and technique how to earn income from this land. NARAD seen mostly Tribal family migrate after rainy season to earn more income. If the farmer will utilize this land for plantation they will no need to migrate. Trees alter the environment in which we live by moderating climate, improving air quality, conserving water, and harboring wildlife. Climate control is obtained by moderating the effects of sun, wind, and rain. Radiant energy from the sun is absorbed or deflected by leaves on deciduous trees in the summer and is only filtered by branches of deciduous trees in winter. We are cooler when we stand in the shade of trees and are not exposed to direct sunlight. In winter, we value the sun s radiant energy. Therefore, we should plant only small or deciduous trees on the south side of homes. This year also NARAD were undertaken a tree plantation campaign and made plantation of tree sapling in farmers waste land of Shivajinagar village. The NARAD distributed various types of mix tree sapling among 15 farmers on free of cost.
