1 General Specifications AL400G Alkalinity Meter Overview Water supply systems and treatment plants use alkalinity measurements to control the dose of flocculants, chemicals used to precipitate suspended particles for turbidity removal in raw water, and to prevent corrosion of water distribution lines from plants to consumers. Alkalinity analyzers are also required for monitoring and controlling water quality of industrial waters such as boiler feed water and water used for food production and processing. The AL400G Alkalinity Analyzer is a process analyzer which is based on the automated neutralization titration using the method described in the Test Method for Clean Water and the Japanese Industrial Standards JIS K00: Test Method for Industrial Waters, and is designed specially for operational control of water supply systems and treatment plants. The AL400G uses a glass electrode for endpoint detection and employs the gravimetric method for both sample intake and reagent use, providing stable reading with high repeatability. This makes the analyzer ideal for process use. Having fewer moving parts compared to the instrument using the volumetric method, the AL400G is capable of reliable, continuous measurements with prolonged service lifetime. A sand filter is available for measuring dirty water sample and a cleaning system is equipped with the analyzer as standard. An optional automatic calibration function can be attached, resulting in lower maintenance.
