2 5 Maps / Base Maps Two types of base map have been developed: Base map 1: A solid map showing the countries in detail, to highlight specific regions. 3 5 Maps / Solid Base Maps Use of Color Two-color base maps should preferably be in orange or warm gray (100% or halftone). The use of Level 1 red should be limited to showcasing one or possibly more elements, such as a country, but never an entire continent. It must always be keyed or captioned. The pointers can be used in a Level 1 or Level 2 color, for the purpose of making distinctions. Neither pointers nor data can be represented in a Level 3 color.
