10 NO END IN SIGHT: ALUMINUM IS THE METAL FOR TODAY AND THE FUTURE Due to its material properties, aluminum lasts longer than other materials when used in an appropriate way Aluminium is infinitely recyclable, without losing characteristics like stiffness, strength and flexibility The increased recycling of aluminum is important for resource preservation New design trends include aluminum products the potential is enormous Greater urbanization, higher living standards, climate change and increasing energy needs, call for efficient and sustainable aluminum solutions Aluminum's properties enable innovation and energy-efficient designs and applications Sapa solutions can reduce environmental impact and we see no end in sight

RELEASING THE POTENTIAL 11

12 LIGHTER VEHICLES Sapa takes into consideration environmental challenges when designing new products and solutions together with customers Carmakers are meeting customer needs for added comfort and engine power by taking weight out of vehicles, to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions Aluminium is contributing to the process in a heavy way. The light metal is replacing steel and copper in new automotive applications every year, partly for weight reduction, but also due to its formability and energy-absorption qualities Sapa is delivering innovative solutions that support the automotive industry in its efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions

TODAY AND TOMORROW 13

14 HIGH-PERFORMING AND SUSTAINABLE BUILDING SOLUTIONS It is relatively easy to design and erect buildings, new and refurbished, that generate more energy than they use over their lifetime. The zero-energy target is becoming the benchmark for investors and architects in most climate zones Building energy-neutral structures represents a good and practical solution to one of the biggest challenges society is facing For more than a decade, we have been the leading designer of energy-efficient and aluminum-based facades, windows and doors Further, the increase in the recycling of building components has enabled us to provide solutions with a lower energy footprint and a better score in building classification systems
