5 CHP systems Pros Economically Energy and cost saving Generation of electric energy without additional fuel-use Overall increase in efficiency Environment friendly & resource conservation Use of waste heat Often a part of the applied energy is lost unused as heat waste. From this unused waste heat, electricity can be produced with innovative technology. As a result, energy & costs are saved and at the same time the environment is protected. Individual application possibilities CHP systems can be used in many different areas of application, such as for wood / furniture industry food industry pellets production drying processes (e.g. in agriculture) HERZ biomass boilers Following biomass systems are also suitable for CHP systems: stems: warm water boiler hot water boiler saturated steam boiler hot air and hot gas systems thermal oil systems Type Nominal capacity in kw (at W40) Container exchanger RRF SRF-S SRF-H TSRF WW HW Steam RRK 10M RRK 9M RRK 8M RRK 7M RRK 6M RRK 5M RRK 4M RRK RRK RRK RRK 1000 RRK WW = warm water, HW = hot water, 500 Steam = saturated steam RRF: under feed combustion SRF-S: step grate combustion with stoker screw SRF-H: step grate combustion with hydraulic insertion TSRF: step grate combustion for dry fuels Special solutions available on request! 6 CHP systems HERZ biomass systems (warm-, hot water boilers, saturated steam boilers, hot air and hot gas systems & thermal oil systems) can be used individually for the generation of heat of various kinds: Large buildings as public buildings, hotels, agriculture, etc. local and district heatings industry & commerce as horticulture and timber processing Power It is also possible to use HERZ as CoGeneration plant for producing and Electricity. In addition warm water boilers, hot water boilers, saturated steam boilers, hot air/hot gas systems or thermal oil systems are used. Due to the generation of electricity from waste heat the overall effi ciency of the system is increased and electricity is generated in environment-friendly & resources saving way. Power Cold In addition to heat & power there is also the possibility for cooling. Here, a part of the generated heat is used to operate an absorption chiller or adsorption chiller for cooling. The simultaneous production of heat, power and cooling is thus an extension of co-generation and is called tri-gerneration. 6

7 ORC systems The ORC system (Organic Rankine Cycle - system) is a closed, thermal cycle, which utilizes thermal energy to generate electricity. The waste heat passes through a heat exchanger into the ORC module. There, the organic working medium is evaporated by the heat energy. The steam fl ows under pressure into a generator, which converts a part of the heat energy into electricity. Subsequently, the steam is cooled and liquefi ed in a condenser again and then returned to the evaporator. Pros high efficiency part load operation possible low maintenance durable easy system integration possible in many sectors environment-friendly Waste heat circuit (medium warm water, hot water, hot air, hot gas, saturated steam, superheated steam) Waste heat from different ent sources Evaporator / superheater hot water boiler, hot air & hot gas boiler, saturated steam boiler Pre-heater Turbine G Generator Condenser Working medium pump Waste heat cicruit (medium hot air, hot has) Thermal oil circuit Evaporator / superheater Waste heat from different sources Turbine G hot air & hot gas boiler Pre-heater Generator Condenser Working medium pump The waste heat can be supplied to the ORC process with different media of different temperatures. assumes no liability for the information, Subject to technical modifi cations. 7
