5 STEAM GENERATOR BENEFITS Low tendency for slagging in the combustion chamber and boiler Excellent behaviour under partial load Low emissions High operational stability and plant availability Low maintenance costs FEATURES Combustion under controlled temperature conditions High flexibility in the event of fuel fluctuations High bandwidth of fuels can be fired biomass, multi-fuel, residue and sludge Large heating value range between 4 and 20 MJ/kg BOILER TYPES SETCIA INNOVATIVE FLUIDISED BED COMBUSTION SYSTEM Fluidised bed systems are used in technical processes such as drying processes, chemical reactions or in the area of energy conversion. It is being used more and more above all in power plant technology. By further developing this combustion technology, SET has made a decisive contribution to improvement of the performance and environmental friendliness of these fluidised bed systems. SET s fluidised bed boiler can be used for plants with thermal outputs from 20 MW up to over 120 MW, and makes it possible for the operator to produce energy economically with low emissions. We offer customised solutions adapted to the individual needs. FUNCTIONALITY Steam generator Fluidised bed boilers produce steam with high steam parameters for energy efficient conversion and process-heat by combustion of biogenic and waste-derived fuels in a fluidised bed process with an integrated boiler design. Multi-stage combustion process Staged combustion converts the fuel avoiding temperature peaks and hence reducing the slagging and the NOx-formation within the furnace. This is achieved by using a mixture of fresh air and recirculated flue gas at several combustion levels. open nozzle grid Refractory lined water cooled eddy gas distributors together with refractory lined nozzle beams allow safe combustion of difficult fuels with high corrosion potential and high coarse particle content. Coarse particles from the fuel can be removed during the combustion process through the nozzle grid allowing re-use of the bed material. Through various designs, we adapt our solutions optimally to the respective customer requirements. Hence, we can provide support for optimising of operating and maintenance costs and contribute to increasing the efficiency of existing plants. GRATE FIRING The first waste combustion plants were built more than 100 years ago. The technology of the continuous stoker-fired systems has been developed in the 1920s and has undergone steady development since then. Today, there are more than 1,000 waste incineration plants in operation - most of them with grate firing technology. Together with its cooperation partners, SET contributes to continuous further development of these complex environmental systems in the areas of grate technology, boiler construction and boiler manufacturing as well as in their operation. FLUIDISED BED FIRING SETCIA residue fluidised bed boilers with horizontally positioned heating surfaces ( horizontal pass ) for thermal utilisation of alternative fuels, residues, sewage sludge and unsorted domestic waste. The principle of reuse instead of dispose also applies here as an approach in connection with the EU-wide landfill restrictions. 8 1 SETNOx PLANTS Emissions are created when fossil fuels are used for energy and heat generation. Among others, they contain nitrogen oxides and other environmentally harmful substances. Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) is the most efficient method of reducing these nitrogen oxides. By injecting ammonia into the flue gas flow in the presence of a catalyst, the nitrogen oxides are broken down into atmospheric nitrogen and water. Our expertise and many years of experience guarantee functional and long-lasting solutions for new plants or retrofits, for all types of combustibles, for high-dust or tail-end applications as well as for horizontal or vertical heat recovery steam generators. Dioxin reduction These catalysts can be used under oxidative conditions to oxidise incompletely burned organic products as dioxin and furan in the flue gas of waste incinerators. Thereby dioxin and furan are destroyed efficiently. Patented systems To inject and distribute the reagent into the flue gas flow, SET uses the Ammonia Injection System (so-called AIG), an ammonia injection grid with a patented design that achieves very high mixing rates in a confined space. The result is an almost full NOx conversion at low ammonia slip. Pressure loss is extremely low. It is a decisive advantage, especially for installation in the heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) of gas-fuelled power plants with very low emissions as well as for coal fired applications. 9 FLUE GAS TREATMENT Products SETSorp conditioned dry absorption 2-stage wet scrubbing SETNOx NOx reduction dioxin reduction RETROFITS retrofitting of old plants SNOx TM key components of SNOX plants EPC or engineering for high-sulphur content fuels SETSorp FLUE GAS CLEANING In combustion processes, such as the ones in waste-to-energy plants in particular, acidic gases or dust-forming particles escape into the atmosphere. Through multistage cleaning processes, it is possible to reduce the amount of pollutants considerably. By using filters, absorption and adsorption processes as well as catalysts, the sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides as well as dust and soot particles are removed and the quality of the escaping exhaust gas is improved. With the conditioned dry absorption (SETSorp) technology, SET offers an innovative and efficient alternative to conventional methods and ensures compliance with common emission regulations. The technology behind conditioned dry absorption (CDA) For efficient separation of acidic pollutants and organic compounds like dioxin and furan, SET has improved the semi-dry absorption process. In combination with a downstream fabric filter, it is particularly well suited as a flue gas cleaning system for waste-to-energy plants. In our advanced CDA process, the lime milk injection is done by specially developed low-pressure dual fluid nozzles operating on the principle of ultra-sonic atomisation. The nozzles, without any moving parts, are highly durable and easy to maintain. The consumption of atomising agent is small. A special design of the reactor layout and co-current flow optimises the flow pattern to achieve full atomisation and intense mixing of the reagent and flue gas. Robust and durable quality The CDA process is characterised by its high reduction efficiency of the pollution with low energy demand. Besides the low investment and operating costs, the system is completely wastewater free. In addition, the process design prevents the formation of clumping and blockages. Hence, the system can work with high reliability. Depending on customer s wishes, SET plans and delivers complete flue gas cleaning solutions based on wet scrubbing systems. 11 SERVICE OPERATION and MAINTENANCE Services Operation and maintenance Spare Parts Management Modernisation and upgrades Performance improvements Emission reduction Plant condition assessment CUSTOMER SUPPORT AFTER COMPLETION The objective of after-sales management is to ensure that business relations do not end with the project, but remain throughout the lifetime of a power plant. This means that after the start-up of the power plant, SET remains at customer s side. Our service portfolio includes maintenance and modernisation support for power plants and industrial facilities. Another target is to support our customers by our worldwide network with fast and comprehensive service and support. From operation, maintenance and modernisation of the plants through improvement of the performance and reduction of emissions, right up to condition assessment and lifetime costing, SET is your competent partner. Lifetime costing Catalyst regeneration CATALYST MANAGEMENT AND REGENERATION Catalysts are one of the expensive parts of a power plant s DeNOx system and they have a limited lifetime. To reduce maintenance costs and to save the costs for the replacement of catalysts, SET has developed a regeneration process to reverse the ageing of catalysts and to restore their activity. The process can be applied in a mobile regeneration plant operating directly on-site. Therefore, no catalyst transport is necessary at all, thus reducing the downtime of the plant to a minimum. In combination with our sophisticated catalyst management, the operating costs and maintenance expense can be reduced even more. Benefits Overview: Applicable to all catalysts types, regardless of supplier and fuel types No catalyst transport necessary Minimal plant downtime Restoration to full catalyst activity 2 1 Boiler repair Bowen, Catalyst rejuvenation Carterville (USA) 4 Repair works 3 4
