Hydrochloric Acid 31.45% 59.38% [w/w] CAS Number Hydrochloric Acid 31.45% Synonym (s) Urea Hydrochloride; Carbamide Hydrochloride; Hydrochloric Acid Urea Section 04 - First Aid Measures Inhalation..... Skin Contact / Absorption.. Remove victim to fresh air. Give artificial respiration only if breathing has stopped. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Seek immediate medical attention. Remove contaminated clothing. Wash affected area with soap and water. Seek medical attention if irritation occurs or persists. Eye Contact Ingestion.... Additional Information Contact lenses should never be worn when working with this product. Flush immediately with water for at least 20 minutes. Forcibly hold eyelids apart to ensure complete irrigation of eye tissue. Seek immediate medical attention. If victim is conscious and not convulsing, give one or two glasses of water to dilute material. Vomiting should only be induced under the direction of a physician or poison control center. If spontaneous vomiting occurs, have the victim lean forward with head down to avoid breathing in vomitus. Rinse mouth and administer more water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious victim. Seek immediate medical attention. Recommendations to Physicians: Treat symptoms and eliminate overexposure. Section 05 - Fire Fighting Measures Conditions of Flammability... This product is not considered to be flammable but at high temperatures above 60 C/140 F acid action on most metals may release hydrogen, a highly flammable and explosive gas. Means of Extinction Use an extiguishing media for surrounding fire. Use water to cool fire exposed containers to prevent vapour build up and rupture. Water may also be used to flush spills away from dangerous exposures.

3 Page 3 of 8 Flash Point..... Not Applicable. Auto-ignition Temperature. Not Applicable. Upper Flammable Limit.. Not Applicable. Lower Flammable Limit Not Applicable. Hazardous Combustible Products... Special Fire Fighting Procedures... This product is considered non-flammable, but heat may cause decomposition resulting in the production of hydrogen gas, which can form flammable or explosive mixtures. Wear NIOSH-approved self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing. Explosion Hazards... Will generate heat when mixed with alkalis. Reaction with sulphides, phosphides, cyanides, acetylides, fluorides, silicides, and carbides, releases flammable and/or poisonous gasses. May spatter upon contact with water. When heated to decomposition it may emit toxic and irritating fumes of hydrogen chloride, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and ammonia. Section 06 - Accidental Release Measures Leak / Spill Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Ventilate area. Only enter area with PPE. Stop or reduce leak if safe to do so. Prevent material from entering sewers, storm drains, surface run-off water and soil. Small Spills: Should be wiped up with absorbent material and disposed of in government approved waste containers. Large Spills: Should be contained by diking with sand, soil or other absorbent, non-combustible material, and then transferred into approved waste containers for proper disposal. Deactivating Materials The spilled product can be neutralized with soda ash or baking soda [sodium bicarbonate] and wet down with a little water to form a slurry. The spill area can then be flushed with large quantities of water. Section 07 - Handling and Storage Handling Procedures Use proper equipment for lifting and transporting all containers. Use sensible industrial hygiene and housekeeping practices. Wash thoroughly after handling. Avoid all situations that could lead to harmful exposure.

4 Page 4 of 8 Storage Requirements Store upright in a cool, dry, well ventilated area away from incompatibles. Always store in original labelled container. Keep away from sources of heat and open flame. Keep container tightly closed when not in use. Do not use pressure to empty container. Keep at tempertures below 48 C. Section 08 - Exposure Controls and Personal Protection Protective Equipment Eyes..... Chemical goggles, full-face shield, or a full-face respirator is to be worn at all times when product is handled. Contact lenses should not be worn; they may contribute to severe eye injury. Respiratory... NIOSH recommendations for hydrochloric acid: At concentrations up to 50 ppm, chemical charge respirator or air-purifying respirator is recommended. Above this level, a full face self-contained breathing apparatus is required. Gloves... Impervious gloves of chemically resistant material (rubber or PVC) should be worn at all times. Wash contaminated clothing and dry thoroughly before reuse. Clothing..... Body suits, aprons, and/or coveralls of chemical resistant material should be worn at all times. Wash contaminated clothing and dry thoroughly before reuse. Footwear... Impervious boots of chemically resistant material should be worn at all times. No special footwear is required other than what is mandated at place of work. Engineering Controls Ventilation Requirements... Mechanical ventilation (dilution or local exhaust), process or personnel enclosure and control of process conditions must be provided in accordance with all fire codes and regulatory requirements. Supply sufficient replacement air to make up for air removed by exhaust systems. Other... Emergency shower and eyewash must be available and tested in accordance with regulations and be in close proximity. Section 09 - Physical and Chemical Properties Physical State Liquid Odor and Appearance..... Clear, amber, odourless liquid. Odor Threshold Not Applicable Specific Gravity (Water=1) g/ml

Incompatibility This product is not compatible with reducing agents, alkalis [will generate heat when when mixed with alkalis], hypochlorites [chlorine bleach], oxidizers, sulphides, cyanides, fluorides, carbides, silicates, and metals [Product contains an inhibitor which lowers the metal loss rate and can be applied for metal cleaning purposes]. Contact with metals may produce hydrogen gas. Contact with hypochlorites, sulphides or cyanides may liberate toxic gases. May spatter upon contact with water. Hazardous Products of Decomposition.. Heating above 230 F/110 C results in exothermic decomposition with rapid release of carbon dioxide gas. Carbon oxides [CO, CO2]; nitrogen oxides [NO, NO2], and sulphur oxides. Polymerization Will not occur. Section 11 - Toxicological Information Irritancy Hydrochloric Acid: Severe irritant, corrosive to eyes and skin. Sensitization Not Available
