5 Status of implementation of EMP as per the progress of the construction a) Solid waste collection and disposal Annexure-I Vats fixed at various project sites for collection and disposal of solid waste at appropriate site. Dustbin at the Project area b) Muck Management and River Protection Environmentally friendly measures undertaken for dumping of Muck at designated dump yards. Dump yards are provided with adequate retaining structures such as crate walls, RRM walls, etc. as per requirement. The nallah and river sections are provided with adequate protection measures such as crate wall and concrete plugs. The portals of tunnels are provided with silt & sludge settling tanks. In the event of any damages due to landslides etc, the same will be rectified. Teesta Hydro Power. Ltd,

6 Muck Management River Protection & Road protection work c) Air/Noise Pollution Management M/s SGS Kolkata has been appointed for monitoring of ambient Air quality& Noise levels and is carrying tests on periodical basis. Application for Renewal of Consent to Establish for under Air Act, 1981, under Water Act & DG Sets is under process. Water Sprinklers/Miller are used on regular basis in project roads to control the Fugitive dust (SPM). Air Pollution control measures at Site Teesta Hydro Power Pvt. Ltd,

7 d) Water Quality Management Noise Monitoring at Site Four number of water sampling locations have been identified in project area to monitor water quality of Teesta River and the adjoining streams. The main parameters are being analyzed by M/s SGS Kolkata. Renewal of Consent to Establish under Water Act, 1974, is under process. Settling tanks have been constructed at each portal site to arrest the sediments and sludge coming along with the tunnel water before discharging. Settling Tank & Sampling for Water Monitoring e) Control of Pollution from Labour Camps Maximum labourers in the project site are residing in the labour camp at Power House & Barrage site equipped with good sanitation facilities. Labourers are using Kerosene Oil/LPG for their cooking purpose. Community Toilets are available with proper Septic Tanks & Soak pits for labors and staff in the labourer camp Teesta Hydro Power Pvt. 8 Labour Camp and Community Toilets f) Environmental Management during Road Construction Roads are constructed using cut and fill method. The muck retaining structures like RCC wall and Crate walls are constructed towards valley side and the RRM walls, Plumb walls or dry walls are constructed towards the hillside of the roads for protection purpose. Plantation are carried out on both sides of constructed Road depending upon the availability of space. RCC Road Side Protection & Road Side Plantation g) Public Health Delivery System Dispensaries have been established at both Barrage and Power House Sites. Complete health screening and periodic health checkups of labourers are carried out on regular basis. Free of cost medical facility is provided to Project employees as well as villager Health camps were organized for local people at Barrage (Lot1 area) Teesta Hydro Power Pvt. Ltd,

9 Blood donation camp was organized on 1 st October 2014 in which 31 employees donated blood. In addition, medical team of Lanco is engaged in providing medical facilities to project-area villages as well as people from other nearby areas. LANCO Mobile H e a l t h service provides medical facilities to 10 villages a d j o i n i n g project area on free of cost basis. 10 Women & Child Health Camp Health Check Up at Project Site & in Nearby Villages Patients who benefitted by LANCO Mobile Medical facilities in the Period of October 2013 to April Number of Patients benefited 4431 During reporting period, 4431 persons benefited through 150 Mobile Health camps. About 9011 persons benefited during the financial year through 302 camps. h) Safety Measures. P o s t e r s and slogans a r e used extensively to spread awareness among the laborers about importance of safety Safety instructions are given to laborers and staff regularly for each and every activity which includes tunneling.

11 Safety department with Safety Officers and supervisors have been appointed at site for effective monitoring and implementation of Safety related issues. All labourer and staffs are being p r o v i d e d with PPEs such as full body h a r n e s s, high visibility j a c k e t s, Helmets, Safety shoes, Gloves, Gumboots, etc. as per work requirement. 12 Environmental & Safety training conducted at project site i) Community Kitchens LTHPL & its C o n t r a c t o r s have established s e v e n no. of C o m m u n i t y K i t c h e n s covering staff of whole project construction area. Hostels are equipped with recreation facilities like Televisions etc. (j) Forest Protection Plan Community Kitchen for staff Forest Dept. monitors the trespasses by installing a check post at Pamphok Village. To maintain the Forest cover and the environment of the region, a Forest Protection Plan i s b ei ng implemented by F o r e s t Department at a cost o f Rs 78 L a k h s. Entire amount has been deposited in CAMPA Fund as a part of forest clearance in May Demarcation and fencing of diverted forestland has been done to avoid damage to nearby area not diverted for the purpose.

15 (l)employment Opportunities Work executed against CAT Plan Based on the skills and qualification, the employment preference has been given to local people and is employed in project activities. (m) Economic Opportunities Award of the petty contract- Local people have been given contract for activities like construction of drainage along the roads, protection works along new cuttings, plantation work, bush cleaning in the construction sites, etc. to benefit and facilitate economic opportunity. Vehicle hiring- Vehicles o f l o c a l s are hired t o provide them economic benefits. Contract for supply of ration and other material for community kitchen have been given to local vendors. Buildings of locals are being re n t e d for office setup & staff accommodation

19 Annexure II Conditions and Compliances towards MOEF Environmental Clearance Sl. Further Rs. 50 lakhs has been deposited with state Forest department Rs.9.82 crore has b e e n deposited with Forest department to carry out the works and further Rs 1.41 Crore has been deposited for r e v i s e d CAT p l a n with Forest department.

We have provided two No(s) of MS pipes of 800 dia with knife edge valves in the river intake pier to release 10% of available water (82.5 cumecs) regularly downstream of dam for sustenance of aquatic life. All required clearances are being obtained as per requirement PART-B i) Adequate free fuel arrangement should be made for the labour force engaged in the construction work at project cost so that indiscriminate felling of trees is prevented. ii) Fuel depot may be opened at the site to provide the fuel (kerosene/wood/lpg).medical facilities as well a s recreational facilities should also be provided to the labourers. iii) All t h e labourers to be engaged for construction works should also be thoroughly examined by health personnel and adequately treated before issuing them work permit. Free f u e l ( LPG & Kerosene) i s p r o v i d e d to the manpower engaged. Being procured as and when required from the local market. The medical Health Checku ps & Health monitoring a r e carried o u t at all the Project Sites. Dispensaries have been set up at both Barrage and power house.
